One of the worst things Naruto has done is bringing the term "Talk no Jutsu" to the vocabulary of anime fans. I'm serious. It created a group of viewers who actually think that characters interacting and actually clashing over ideals is a "cliche that should be avoided".

Many Gintama fans think Gintoki doesn't pay Kagura and Shinpachi. He does. He is just usually late with it (kinda like the rent). Kagura just uses them up really quickly and knowing Shinpachi, he always saves anything he gets probably.

Gintama and especially Gintoki are really popular in Japan if you don't know. Like, the lack of official translation in the west makes you think it is more unknown, but in Japan, China etc, Gintoki is still one of the most popular characters ever.

People usually miss how cool Shinpachi is in this scene. He knows Abuto can kill him any time he wants. He mocks Abuto and provokes him just so he would give up on letting Kagura decide (who would pick herself) and kill him instead. It is selfless and badass as heck.

I always found the difference between these two scenes fascinating. It highlights their different outlooks on their past. When he met Shoyo, Takasugi had "so much" to tell him. Yet for Gintoki, the only thing he wanted to tell him about and show was the Yorozuya.
