I did order a Hall’s Hardy almond tree, we’ll see how it goes. I’m also getting some blight-resistant seed potatoes and powdery mildew-resistant zucchini seed because I’m dang sick of dealing with these garden diseases 🙂
I'm not sure I have the space or sunlight for nut trees. They apparently do not come in dwarf varieties like apple trees. Plus hazelnuts generally aren't self-pollinating, so would need 2+ trees. I'm considering trying Hall's Hardy almond tree (self-pollinating) but it's tall

Raising chickens and hunting are probably the easiest ways to survive on the land here (from the standpoint of calories). I'm not getting into either of those things for several reasons, so I need to think more about plants. Berries & greens are very easy to grow but low cal
