Does anyone else just want to trust again? I believe that anyone whose conscience has not been completely seared shut, yearns for a child-like innocence that we know we once had. Even then, we were at least naive. We were not yet aware of the darkness that lurked in men's souls, and the darkness each of us would eventually need to face within ourselves. We each became, at some point, corrupted by an inherent will to survive at all costs. One tool of survival we all taught ourselves was deception. Sure, it's useful at times when your life depends on it, but some of us along the way developed a conscience. Our conscience, if we chose to develope and nurture it, taught us empathy for others, self-awareness, and the burden of guilt. Our conscience became a sort of legal library filled with books of hindsight, written records of our past experiences. My personal favorite, The Book of Lies I Told Myself. My least favorite, Lies I Told Others - The Pain it Caused. As we watch this Empire of Lies expose itself more and more, please remember - it's only shocking, horrific and disappointing because you once, at some level, trusted this Empire of Lies. And as this Empire crumbles, please focus on being a citizen of a new beginning. Because a new Kingdom ruled by the Truth will be established in its place. The Truth is a person. We can trust again. We can even trust eachother to a certain degree. But that only comes when a people knows who the Truth is. Obviously I'm talking about Jesus Christ, and in no vain way do I use that name. If you don't know Him, I urge you to please try and get to know Him. Remember the child-like innocence you once had, when you had no reason to trust, and start there. You'll find Him, I swear it.
