Hi everyone! Here’s Angel! We are on our way to Denver, so we won’t be posting much today. Our total drive will be about 24 hours y the time we get to Lethbridge, and so far she is doing great 🥰. We stopped for a little rest from driving and then we will be back on the road.

A few people asked for more Rizzo … he just turned 7, he is a goofball & a cuddler, he’s never chewed anything he’s not supposed to except for my hand when he was a puppy, he is named after Anthony Rizzo -⚾️ player, and his fave things are swimming, balls, belly rubs & barking.

I’m sure other dog lovers can relate and would do anything to ensure their pup’s comfort … Angel prefers sleeping in the living room, so I have been sleeping in the living room with her so she doesn’t feel alone. Rizzo usually joins us for part of the night 🩷💜🩷💜

My grandma has COVID, and I’m very worried about her. She is 92. She spent 7-hrs in the ER last night b/c her oxygen was low, and then they sent her home. COVID is not over ❤️🩹

It’s been exactly 1 month since Angel & I left Tulsa in our rental vehicle & drove 24hrs to Lethbridge, Alberta. After driving thru Ok, Ks, & Co, Doug met us in Denver. Then we drove thru Wy, Mt, & finally S. Alberta. Angel is doing amazingly and we love her so much

Jumbo has been battling health issues for a few weeks. He had a big series of tests this morning and it confirmed what I sadly knew in my own gut already.
Jumbo has a week or 2 to live at most. Very late stage kidney failure. The finality of It is like a punch to the stomach. I

Mashed potatoes/Salmon 30 was a hit! Angel went to the vet today to meet her new vet, and she is in excellent health. We were worried about possible cataracts but the vet has no concerns. Rizzo is healing up perfectly after his surgery yesterday. Have a good night 💚🩷💚🩷

It’s -21°C, feels like -30°C, that’s -22°F! So Angel has her fancy winter boots on, and she also wore her pink coat for her walk. She loves the snow but this is a little cold for this Okie girl🩷🩷🩷

We went for a 50 minute walk and sniffed every tree, fire hydrant, and bush for a mile. We worked on Angel’s training, and she did well: she sat well, calmly let people pass, and didn’t bark at 5 people, but then she barked at an elderly women 🤷♀️

I have some bad news, Angel isn’t welcome back to Canine Club. She was not getting along with some of the dogs. I’m not sure of all the details but it sounds like she might be protective of Rizzo and not want other dogs near him. We are working on appropriate ways to greet dogs

Many of you know that Rizzo hates going for walks, but we have been trying to get him to at least tolerate a few blocks. Rizzo fought it at first but with Angel’s help, today we all went for a 30min walk!! Rizzo did so well and we are so proud of him, and Angel was a huge help 🐾

I talked to my grandma tonight, and she actually sounds a lot better. I’m so relieved! Her oxygen is in the 90’s, and of course she wanted to know how we have been doing and how Angel is. She is truly an amazing and super tough women. What is the emoji for happy tears? 💕

While Angel has pretty short fur, it is thick, so instead of a winter coat, I ordered her a raincoat to keep her dry on our walks. She is so long! I measured her and she needed the same size as Great Dane modelling the raincoat on the website. Pics to come when the coats arrive

A dog walker takes Angel every now and then so she can connect with other humans as well. Today, she went with Sam, and Angel did very well. No cats jumped out and Angel only whined a bit when a dog kept barking at her. We’re very proud of how well she is doing

Last night Angel’s ear was bugging her but she didn’t want me to touch it. Rizzo let me clean his ears, and then Angel let me clean her’s. It was so sweet. This is us watching tv late last night 💜💜💜. We are going to the dog park later today so we’ll see how that goes.

Rizzo update! I talked to the vet & Rizzo is doing well. They removed the cracked tooth & 1 lipoma; he can come home in a few hours. Angel is missing him & she didn’t eat this morning. I’m off work the rest of the week so I’ve been hanging with her. They are such good pups

I setup the couch to be Angel’s couch. It took a little convincing but she hopped up and rubbed her face all over it and acted like a puppy. She was so excited, and then Rizzo and her played a little bitey face to celebrate the event. I think she knows it’s her couch now

Princess Angel had a checkup today. She is in perfect health! Vet says her eyes and hips are good. She looks chunky but her fur is so thick and the vet says her weight is good. Angel will be 9 in August so I’m so happy she is doing so well 🩷🩷🩷🩷

Angel walked with her best bud Sam today. Apparently, 3 dogs got off their leashes & charged Angel and Sam 😡. Luckily, nobody was hurt and the dogs went back to their human without incident, and Angel reacted a bit, to be expected, but she did very well and continued walking 🩷

Angel and I travelled about 1600 miles home after I adopted her. I could not imagine returning her after that. After we got home, it took at least a few weeks for her to decompress and then a few months to understand she was home.
It’s been almost 8 months, and we are still

We had no returns for months.
We do vet & personal references.
We try to emphasize decompression.
We look for adopters w/rescue experience.

At about midnight every night, I get Angel and Rizzo up for potty and a little snack. First, I give them each a belly rub and back massage. Last night, they were both so tired, they were standing in the kitchen half asleep waiting for their snack. It was so funny and cute. 🤭🖤💙

I didn’t get a pic but Angel found the ‘head hole’. She tried to climb through it but she can’t fit 😬. We put it in so Rizzo could see the neighbourhood and they both seem to enjoy it. Our neighbours always say hi to the pups

Angel did well outside the fenced -in area. We came upon some other dogs and a puppy and I wasn’t sure Angel’s recall would be very good with so much stimulation, so I put her leash on for the last quarter of the walk. But overall, she stayed close to me and came when called 🩷

Ok guys, Angel sometimes takes her bully & hides it somewhere in the house. A few times, Rizzo has found it & eaten it. Angel doesn’t chew/destroy anything she’s not supposed to, but the TV remote has gone missing. We can’t find it anywhere. We’re wondering if Angel hid it 😂😂

Some of you may know I’ve been dealing with Long Covid since April 2022. A friend on here sent me an article about some meds/supplements that were helping some people. My Dr prescribed the meds & I’m feeling so much better! Another way an amazing follower has made a difference ❤️
