Turned down a request from a national supermarket chain today to have them sell our honey regionally, told them it would harm our existing stockists who are all small businesses - thanks but no thanks x
Sadly we’ve had a serious loss of colonies and hives today due to the biblical conditions, I tried so hard to save them but could not when conditions became too deep and risky, I am truly guttered 🙁
I’ve not told anyone this but we ‘The Sheffield Honey Company’ are 10 years old this month, we launched in June 2010 at Sheffield’s first ever food festival - 10 years ago!! Huge thanks to our customers, our stockists and our family for the support and sacrifices they have made x
Complete destruction, everything wiped off the map - 20 full colonies with honey crop, 5 full nucs, absolutely guttered, a lot of bees perished here as well as the financial loss ☹️
We’ve hit a milestone today having generated 300MWh since switching on our turbines on the

in late 2021 - a marvellous achievement which wouldn’t have happened without the support of our investors, volunteers and

Just driving past a very popular parking spot up on the Strines Rd, 4 family cars parked up socialising, this one f***er throws an empty can into the bracken as I go past - I slammed my brakes on, reversed back and tore the b****ock off him - had the whole family looking 4 it 😡
Literally just visited a Sheffield site where vandals have attacked 21 heathy colonies/hives 😡 I’m sick of this shit I really am, this is a Sheffield location
Just a general thanks to everyone for their support and kind words, we are working closely with the National Bee Unit in all matters, proactive steps are being taken and the full picture will be clear by the end of next week - slow and steady etc 🥃 thanks again
Lots of people talking total b******s about Sheffield flooding like previously years, total rubbish, Dam Flask, Agden and Dale Dike reservoirs are NOT full, these are saving the situation today 👍
Well it’s been a crappy hard year on many fronts for lots of people, my bitterness endures 😉 however as my final tweet of 2019 I’d like to wish the nice folk that follow us good health and we do hope 2020 improves your lot in life 🙏🏻 🍯 🥃
We don’t ask you to sponsor our hives, we don’t ask you to rent our hives, we don’t bullshit you in that way - we just ask that you support the UK honey sector by buying locally produced jars with trusted provenance 👍🍯

By the way every single jar of honey we deliver is ‘Limited Edition’, each jar is a one off, it’s a moment in time, it’s a snapshot of nature that can never ever be repeated 👍 that’s our honey in a nutshell 🍯
Thanks for all the nice comments, still in shock - was up to my waist in freezing cold river water clinging on to hives as they floated off their stands, I tried in vain to save them but had to retreat due to risk to myself - I’ll never forget yesterday
Just checked Sheffield Hillsborough corner for flood update, the levels may well pass the 2007 record - a once in a thousand year event that’s occurred just 12 years later 😡
Dear public, this is how you reimburse us for collecting those pesky swarms 👍👍👍 many thanks to lady this evening, the bees will get a new home tomorrow 🐝🐝
Just completed our 7th weekly inspection of our hives on Weston Park Museum roof, all looking fantastic, healthy and ready for the Summer nectar lows 🐝👍

One of our honeybees today, Dear local councils - please try and schedule your grass cutting to just before UK dandelions come into flower - this makes a massive difference to them providing nectar and pollen for native bee species

So this is the end result, I can’t post pics of the injury as it’s too gruesome - bad burn, I won’t say how, it’s beekeeping related and was a scary experience - importantly I’m going to be ok, 10 years in this job and yet another painful lesson 👍 thanks for kind words x
I support the NHS 110%, not by clapping but by behaving safely, wearing masks, washing hands, keeping distances, following rules and that’s how you help the NHS 👍
Huge volume of businesses now moaning and complaining about the reality of Johnson’s Brexit? Where were you all during the last 5 years? Some of us put our brands and livelihoods on the line trying to keep the EU deal we used to have - I don’t recall hearing your voices in 2016😡
Did you know we are 13 years old this week! We officially launched the company back in May 2010 at the first ever Sheffield Food Festival 👏 our first stockist was
@OurCowMolly
too
Sadly for the foreseeable future we have withdrawn from doing farmers markets, the combination of new event regulations and the risks of holding these crowded events just seem a step too far at the moment 👍 hope ppl understand
Seeing Yorkshire folk on X using
#FarRightThugsUnite
at the same time threatening to attack properties and migrants, and Sheffield is a target? You are scumbags - this is about hatred not immigration policy 😡
Witnessed runners, cyclists and walkers today all ignoring social distancing, there must be 100,000 ppl hitting the Peak District right now - your behaviour is going to force a complete UK lockdown ☹️ sorry but it’s so irresponsible and selfish
Launching in 2010 we are a family run honey farm, its not one person but it’s a real team effort, a small family business and real bee farmers producing pure natural honey 🐝🍯

This is what EFB looks like at the end of the day, it’s down to irresponsible and aggressive swarm collecting, buying nucs from known or high risk EFB areas, I’d like to thank those responsible for costing us a small fortune 👍
Feel sick and want to scream, so pissed off with the nasty attitudes within my country - in the decades to come we will look back and ask how on earth this fool became prime minister 😡😡😡😡 on the plus side it’s sunny 🌻
NOTICE **** Our Easter Holiday Weekend Hours: We will be working all the hours God sends on Friday, Saturday, Sunday and Monday - basically it’s like any other bl**dy weekend 😂😂

Happy Brexit Stupidity anniversary 👍 hope your all proud of how little your country has achieved since the vote 🤮 I’ll be pissed off about it until the day I die
This is the ‘second’ big swarm to land at the farm ‘today’, yes two today, both look like prime swarms, and yet the NBU tell me there are no beekeepers around us 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Was stopped this evening by a group of older guys who told me to remove my mask as COVID was over, I can deal with morons all day long / just form a queue 😂
We get asked all the time why can’t I buy your honey jars direct and online, there are a few reasons we don’t sell jars online but the main reason is that we want to support local retailers and not bypass them - old fashioned maybe, but important to us 👍
#SupportLocalBusinesses
We're pleased to report a record blossom honey crop for 2017, dont believe all the fake stories about a honey shortage in the UK, people, companies and organisations are deliberately driving prices up and to then justify charity begging - the UK honeybee is doing just fine
#BeeOk
Top tip, if your ever under attack from wasps or honey bees simply head for bushes or over hanging trees and walk through the thickest parts - you will lose all those attacking you very quickly 👍🐝
Yes we won a few of those crazy 2024
@guildoffinefood
awards that got announced today 😁 :-
Gold star ⭐️ heather cut comb
Gold star ⭐️⭐️ heather honey
Gold star ⭐️ blossom cut comb
Gold star ⭐️ blossom honey
At a very selfish level I will miss lockdown when it ends, clean air, no traffic, little or no noise pollution, no airplanes, no crowds, very little human contact 😇
Had a large number of media folk contact me today asking for interviews on the flooding incident, I’ve said no politely and won’t be doing any - I appreciate the interest but I really don’t want to re-live the events, thanks for your understanding
Less than 4 weeks to go until the UK's biggest and only dedicated 2018 Beekeeping trade show! Yup
@Beetradex
is the main event for the whole year! Anyone else going?
By the way, why do I post all the things I do about the business? I post the highs and the lows - people often think this job is all bees, flowers and rainbows, but in reality it has just as many storms (very often literally) 👍
Wearing a mask is the very least a person can do, the smallest of contributions, the personal cost is nil, and yet many refuse to do the least - it says so much about people… COVID has opened my eyes to the type of people around us 👍
I don’t believe it!!! Those f**kers at
@sccstreetsahead
have blocked us for asking about gritting on Sheffield roads!!! this is Sheffield City Council for you folks 😡😡😡😡😡😡
Amazing!! Just had a phone call to report one of our poly hives washed down the River Derwent will bees flying from it!! off to find it 🙏🏻
