Deputy Chief Justice Petrus Damaseb has pressed senior advocate Raymond Heathcote to explain why the Electoral Commission of Namibia (ECN) extended voting at only 36 polling stations.  Heathcote clarified that while the President had extended the voting period, the decision on which polling stations would be affected was made solely by the ECN. The applicants in the matter gave oral arguments at the Supreme Court on Monday morning, and the court has resumed after a short adjournment, with the defendants now giving their oral arguments. Advocate Raymond Heathcote, who is representing the President, is the first to address the Court in the matter in which IPC's Panduleni Itula wants the Court to nullify last year's election and order fresh elections.
