The last time I was registered in a Prime League squad back in 1998, we took home an allowance of $300. 21 years on, the U-19 league players are bringing home a whopping $50! And we’re wondering why our football hasn’t taken off.
Don’t know if he has realised this. The fact that Aiden has walked out with one of the best foreigners since professional football was introduced to Singapore in 1996.
Commentator's dream. 2 local SPL clubs showing how to get the basics right. Individual player's profile. Shout out to Albirex too for getting their nicknames in as well! Now for the other clubs - it's 2021!

The quality of officiating. What quality? I say get match officials to explain their decisions after matches just like how coaches are made accountable. Nothing wrong in that.

It's funny how things turn out sometimes. Apart from ability, timing and luck plays a huge part. Gavin Lee with a wonderful opportunity but a daunting task away from home. Wishing him all the best and Coach Ogura speedy recovery.
Tonight was a perfect example of why we should let coaches do their jobs and not jump the gun. Back 3 worked. Personnel worked. Of coz it could have gone either way. Good work Tatsuma Yoshida.

Sports Science and common sense out the window. Surely something needs to be done.
I say if Clubs aren't taking the Interim Pre-Season friendlies seriously, let them plan their own pre-season schedule and friendlies. As should be the way anyway.

Imagine if you are the parents/family of the boys playing in the Lion City Cup. And imagine someone calling your boy a clown, a no-hoper even before a ball is kicked. In being critical, how toxic and personal can we get. The boys don't deserve this.
In other Its Coming Home news, Tampines Rovers will be coming home soon too. In what has been a chastening experience for the club and players, WE really need to look at what this means to OUR football. From the WC qualifiers to the ACL, it is indicative of our local league.
It's sad when the negatives and sports elsewhere are more newsworthy than our local professional league's climax to the season. It's evident.
#SGPremierLeague
It’s great that TRFC are offering 5 year contracts. Unheard of in the local context, first I reckon. Something which players wanted for a long time. But let’s also hope that they are on good money too.

Said this before & I will say it again, Young Lions do not belong in the SPL. Please relief the boys of the damage they are taking. Release them to the clubs.
Great game of football between LCS and Hougang. Pleasure to call the game. Been critical of Hougang, but this is the Hougang that we would love to see more of.

Don't dribble too much...Release it quickly....Only 2 touches...pass it... Will only work if the ball is circulated at intensity.
We have No One to commit an opponent... No One to create that extra space after a dribble... No Creativity. So Academies, let them express themselves.
Thinking about last night's Jurong East support. Brings back memories of 1999! Clementi Khalsa beating Jurong FC 3-2! Match had everything... Goals, red cards, tackles flying.... And crowd right on top of the players! Brilliant!
Thailand's National Coach,

Nothing against CR7. Absolute crap of an event. Kids waiting for 3 hours at least. MC filling time with questions. Poor crowd control. Can't hear shit during the Q&A. Of coz, photo opportunity for the VIPS! And all that for seeing their HERO for 20 minutes on stage!
Do away with this over age players nonsense. These players have been training and playing as a team. Then deprive them of the opportunity to play. Stick with them.

Mental health issues with athletes is a big thing. Get help. But to use it for not making the cut is another thing. Getting dropped is nothing new in professional sports. Take it on the chin and move on. You are not the first and won't be the last.
Lion City Cup. It is important that we do not get carried away. Yes, some good individual performances. It’s what they do from here. Still early days. And remain humble and do not get sucked into bad habits like poor sportsmanship. The game has a funny way of getting back at you.
This is not a criticism of Zach Leong in goal. Of coz he made mistakes but he will learn. But this is pro football. He would not have played if the U-23 rule wasn't in place. So who suffers? 3 points and careers are at stake. Do the right thing.
Coaching isn’t abt getting ure coaching badges and then putting on a session. If ure not knackered at the end of just 1 session, something is wrong. Pre-training, training, post-training. Repeat. 365 days. N when ure team is struggling (I should know), turn up n dig in.
Congratulations to Gavin Lee for extending his contract at Tampines Rovers for a further 3 years. Great faith shown. Unheard of here - long contracts and especially for a local born coach. Kudos to the club and Desmond.

This is frustrating. For starters, surely something can be worked out so that a player finishes the season before enlisting. Good luck Shah, one of the best youngsters playing in the SPL.
SPL clubs showing and making their presence felt on social media. But some content pretty cringe worthy. Time to get a full time social media content creator I say.

Another College East alumni, Taufik Suparno, in the news last night. 2 well taken goals to cap his call up to the National Team. Well done Taufik.

Where does Singapore football go after THAT match on Saturday night. Listen to the episode and chime in with your views.
So is making a bee line to the cameras a thing now for kids after scoring? So is finger to the lips a standard goal scoring celebration? And of coz the occasional obnoxious and rude gestures to their opponents in the game. What happened to humility? Note to coaches and parents.
I remember a few years back when our National Team was playing at Bishan Stadium and a concert or was it some festival was held at the SportsHub! Business or not, hope that shit doesn't happen again.
Issit just me or could it have been managed internally? The 6 players broke the rules - punish them but to throw them under the bus with mug shots and all?? Surely those responsible for the poor results must be punished too!
Academies have the responsibility to brief parents and supporters to keep it down. Something is wrong when they are giving instructions from the touchline and coaches are silent.
What a call up for Idraki Adnan. Exciting prospect. Love what Tatsuma Yoshida is doing with the opportunities given to in form players in the league.

Nothing has changed at Hougang. Behaviour n character have to be questioned. So often it was 6 Albirex players vs 4 defenders in transition. No desire to get back...
The Academies Accreditation System. It's about time. With the number of "academies" sprouting up promising "professional coaching". I say go one step further. Shut them down, especially those without proper coaching certifications. We are dealing with the future of our children.
Asian World Cup Qualifiers in full flow. Let’s get behind the Singapore National team. And let’s not forget Singapore’s best referee Mohd Taqi flying our flag in Group A!
Love the local league. That's where I played and coached, like lots of us here, either past or present. I appreciate my roots. The critics on coaches, decisions etc, fair enuff they're your opinions. But what's missing sometimes - humility and a Mirror.
Are we getting excited already? Long long long way to go. Same cracks occurring. 2 goals conceded totally reflects our problem in concentration and tactical intelligence.
But encouraging performance in the 2nd half.
It's very good to see this. Reasons behind decisions made etc.
And it is also important that respect needs to be upheld at all times. Personal attacks on match officials cannot be tolerated.
#SPL
#SGPremierLeague
LCS should be worried at the way Albirex dominated them in the 2nd half. Justice was done as that was a dodgy penalty decision. So many talking points. And also some good news, Hassan Sunny has been discharged.
Are we producing quality coaches? Are we doing enough? Paying for a course doesn’t mean u get to pass. We gotta make difficult and right decisions to ensure quality. Coaching is a HUGE responsibility. It’s not something u decide to do when u don’t have a choice.
"There are players who I pay quite well.......they get about $800. For those players who were not that good but had some potential, I pay them $100 to $300 (per month)". Everything about this is wrong for a professional league.
With
@hariss14
, Singapore's and JDT'S captain marvel. Talented but above all, down to earth and someone with the right attitude and character. Qualities I wish youngsters taking up the sport can and should emulate. Good luck for the coming season!

An absolute joy to watch the Tampines midfield of Shah, Joel and Nakamura, especially in that first half. Faris playing with loads of confidence and Taufik doing Taufik things.

It’s normal to resist changes. But maybe hold up, take a step back, and see what exactly are the plans before we start shooting. And anyway, isn’t change what is needed? We can’t insist on the same model and expect different results. WE want the same thing. Football success.

Delighted for former College East students tonight. Shah Shahiran putting in a superb performance in the middle of the park for the Young Lions and Khairul Hairie with a delightful goal for Geylang. Too bad both on losing sides.

Will say this again. Players should play for clubs - local or overseas. Nothing from the past has shown that playing together for the YLions will win u the SEA Games or any tourney for that matter. And I've seen players rot in the stands for the YLions without playing time.
Moresche has been class! Real quality. The long break has done wonders. People also seem to overlook the fact that foreigners need to adapt to a new league and country.

Balestier Khalsa FC and new coach Khidir Khamis got off to a fantastic opener against Young Lions. Defensively solid and in Sime Zuzul, they have got an outlet to improve on their 25 goals last season. It is gonna be a long season for the Young Lions.

Primary schools. Coach the kids. Coach them how to take proper throw ins. Coach them how to create space for the thrower to find them. COACH. Do away with kick-ins.
Arteta is top class. But he needed time. Needed to be backed. And that's what he got. It's paying dividends. There is a plan. A playing style. But still some way to go.
I am old school. Penalty - Pick a spot either side of the goalie and put the ball there! That's the worst penalty I have seen in the SPL. From a foreigner.

The idea of playing women’s football in a school with natural grass and a well maintained pitch is seen as unprofessional. As opposed to playing in a “professional” stadium on a Padi field. Maybe pay the players and coaches first?
