“We already have vetting processes”— that are passing along Bible-infused curriculum to K-5 students. This would be a catastrophic move for intellectual freedom.
This is an extremely worrisome development in Texas. - it would cause districts to lose local control over library books, setting up the state as a censor @OIF @TXFreedomRead @PENamerica @PenguinClass @EveryLibrary

This x 1000. I urge you to channel your concern into advocacy at the local and state levels. Ask school/public librarians what support they need. Ask candidates about their position on this issue. Testify at boards/committee hearings.
We've seen folks talking about collecting books in case there's a national ban and asking for lists of banned books. There is not one list of all books that have ever been banned. There is no national ban on books, and even conserv. courts have supported libraries thus far.

There’s been a lot of misinformation about AISD Prop A. Check out the facts (posted since late July; discussed in public mtgs even earlier) and vote for it. Prop A provides teacher raises + academic/mental health supports. It’s 1 piece of a budget-balancing puzzle — 1 we need.
