1. Defense is always further ahead than the offense in training camp.
2. The 49ers defense looks better than I’ve ever seen them. Front to back this is the best defense since 2012.

Wilks is not a scapegoat. I firmly believe that even if the 49ers won the SB he wouldn’t be retained. You can tell from week 1 the defense was out of sorts. The reality is players weren’t bought into him either. He wasn’t a good fit and there are about 4-5 great DC options avail.

Fwiw Floyd and Gross-Matos are significant upgrades over Young and Ferrell. As much as i thought Ferrell was really coming on at the end of last year, Matos is better vs the run and has way more upside as a pass rusher. Not the sexiest names, but edge got way better. Now need DTs
