When I was considering leaving atheism and becoming Christian, friends told me about the OSAS concept. It made no sense to me and ended up turning me away from Christianity. It took me a whole decade more before I revisited the idea of Christianity to find out that not all Christians believe in the nonsensical idea of OSAS and so I became Catholic.

@TaylorRMarshall I’m tired of the halftime show being filled with “artists” who are half-naked and curse every other word in their songs. Is there NOBODY else out there? The Super Bowl is a family event turned into mass grooming. They should be thinking PG not MA. Same goes for the commercials.

@elonmusk Considering just about every American’s SSN has been leaked on the dark web, I think it’s safe to start over and try something else.

You are part of the problem. I have worked in parish settings and have done a lot of volunteering. We were constantly having to call the police because of theft, vandalism, harassment, abusive and threatening language, physical assault, feces and urine and trash all over the place…oh yeah, and they almost burnt down a 120 year old church that is a historic landmark. We were always kind to these people and would give them food, water, talk to them, and give them resources for help (of which there were plenty). But the mental illness and drug use (we saw lots of meth) was out of control and unsafe for children and adults to be around. I’d literally buy someone some food in the morning and later in the day they would come back and start cursing and swinging baseball bats at people. These people need help and enabling them to stay on the street so they can continue destructive behavior to themselves and others isn’t the way to help someone. You may believe you’re being righteous by allowing people to roam the streets and harm themselves or others, but that’s not loving your neighbor—that’s willfully neglecting them.

Here’s a little context - the Cathedral is in downtown Spokane where there are lots of homeless and lots of security issues. This isn’t the first incident and they have been ramping up security a lot for quite a while. I’ve sat on the edge of my seat at a few masses here. Unfortunately, the incompetent Spokane government lets a lot of people with drug addictions and other mental disorders openly roam around the streets (they had a mini-CHAZ drug encampment at one point like Seattle). Fr. Gaines is a great traditional priest.

@tyromper I did a week long fast once. The hunger wasn’t actually that bad once I got past the first 24 hours. The worst part was not chewing and swallowing which began to be a bit agonizing which is why I ended the fast.
