I appreciate this man. He gave MSU everything. Came in as one of the most buzzed about transfers, had to sit a year, struggled thru and ran into challenges but put it all together this year. Became a go-to guy, developed scoring off the bounce, and perfected his catch and shoot
Appreciation for Malik Hall. Still remember his absolute banger against Seton Hall in 2019 and his poster in Maui. Developed to be one of MSU’s most important players. Had a HUGE board against Marquette and had 13 and 8 with a critical putback last night. Much love Malik 💚
I’m missing this type of dawg from Michigan State this year. I need to see Gabe Brown and Malik Hall getting in faces to hold teammates accountable. I need them to channel their inner XT
Cassius Winston, son of Wendi and Reginald, first of his name, a visionary and keeper of buckets, slayer of Wolverines, pirates, and programs from the Far East to western shores
Before the Michigan game, Izzo made it clear what he expected from his team: “We’re gonna be the ones on that floor. We’re gonna be on that floor, we’re gonna have our teeth on that floor.”
His reaction here after his team does just that is priceless
Why are Michigan fans surprised that other fanbases are chirping right now? This entire week we had to listen to sweet sixteens being treated like Final Fours and telling us our teams suck
Y’all were chirping at fanbases that actually had 20 win seasons, not some 19-15 BS
This season’s journey isn’t over yet, but I feel like so much weight has been lifted off of Izzo’s shoulders
He’s playing with house money now, which is incredibly dangerous for everyone else
If Tyson Walker comes back next year I think he’s got everything in his bag to be an All American and one of best guards in the nation
Until that time comes, I’m more than ready to see him put together some March magic
When all is said and done, Tre Holloman’s career arc in EL is going to be the thing that brings this program back to its roots. A classic Izzo guard in the making. In Tre I trust
The whole Dan Dakich calling Cash fat carries extra weight. Imagine going through what Cash has gone through this year. He hasn’t gained weight and even if he did everyone should fuck off
If it was me in that situation I’d probably put on 100 pounds. 100% serious
Way too early MSU hoops thoughts:
-I’ll be damned if AJ Hoggard isn’t a captain next year. He’s an OKG and dawg and it’s his show
-Max Christie gaining muscle is going to transform his game
-With a few additional pieces this team can compete for the B1G next year
-Jaden Akins
INJECT ALL OF THIS
That Hauser turnaround. Hall’s behind the backs. Hoggard’s stepback three. Everything Watts. Mady being a monster. So much more
We may not have Moneyball, but let’s keep these tapes coming. Follow workoutreg.ent on Insta
Imagine growing up with your best friend and saying “one day we’ll play against each other in the NBA”
Yeah, I can’t, but Denzel and Bryn made it happen. Ya love to see it
If “trust the process” ever needed a spokesperson, it’s Gabe Brown
The post-game shootarounds, the Christmas Eve workouts, the years of continuing to develop his craft. He went from funny player celebrating on the bench to a straight up bucket and THE guy for Michigan State
Let’s say this again for people that don’t yet understand:
Cassius Winston is 589 points and 286 assists away from becoming THE ONLY PLAYER in the history of college basketball to have a 2,000 point and 1,000 assist career
The dude is an operator point blank period.
Yeah we’re waiting on all the details but it’s ridiculous that this game was called AFTER MSU travelled and had a shoot around. Real classy.
Don’t want the “1 hour away” crap either. A team still travelled, during a pandemic no less, when they didn’t need to
Hasn’t been talked about enough: Tre Holloman’s development. A defensive latch who has now started to wield an offensive presence that’s proven valuable behind the starting guards. Has become more versatile with the ball and is 14/28 from deep this season
To Cassius Winston, and to our entire team: we love you. No matter the play, outcome, social media slander, or whatever numbers are on that stat sheet, we love you.
For every spectacular play he’s made, and for the legacy he’ll leave at MSU (whether it’s cemented now or in a year), I can’t help but think this will be a top 3 Xavier Tillman Sr. moment for me
“I turn around and I look at this. None of this happens for me, without you. I thank you, I love you, I would do anything for you. I’d give my right arm for you”
There is no other coach like Tom Izzo, no other player like Draymond Green, and no other program like MSU hoops
The return of Malik Hall. A player who, when fully healthy, is one of the most important guys for Michigan State. A huge veteran presence and a guy who can flip a game on its head. I hope his fifth year is injury free, because he deserves to have it all come together
Cassius Winston, son of Wendi and Reginald and brother to Khy and Zach. One of Michigan State’s best to step on the court, and an even better ambassador and model off of it
Words can’t explain how we’ll collectively feel tomorrow, so let’s enjoy every second
The return of Tyson Walker. Can easily see him being one of the best guards in the country next year, making an all American team, and most importantly, raising some banners
Some pieces still to fall, but damn this is great news for next year’s squad
MSU just went into Kohl and silenced a sold out crowd, snapped a 7-game Badger win streak, had five players score in double figures, and bounced back from an ugly start to absolutely torch the Badgers convincingly for 35 minutes
Please don’t pinch me, I don’t want to wake up
“Don’t applaud a fish for swimming. Fish swim all day. Spartans have been winning for a long time.”
Aaron Henry is locked in and on a mission. This run he’s on is LEGENDARY
Today on this fine Selection Sunday, I count my lucky stars that our program is Michigan State
And yeah, it’s been an up and down stretch, but when Izzo is making his 25th straight tourney during “down years” we gotta recognize how privileged and lucky we really are
There is nothing like the Spartan hoops family. The bond, the connection, how older players are accountable to the growth of younger players, how younger players take after those senior. God, I’d love to know what Draymond said to XT here.
Whatever it was, it was 100% love
just got back to Chicago and still can’t believe MSU won today. Can’t believe how lucky I got to witness that at the Bres
Exhausted but gonna enjoy this rewatch
MSU’s class of 2024 off to a great start with the commit of 4 ⭐️ guard Kur Teng. An outstanding shooter with the ability to score on all three levels. Excellent footwork to set up his shot, with a solid frame and strength to finish at the rim
My friend who’s more of an NBA guy kept saying to me “I expect more from a future pro. This is it?”
Number one reason Jaden Ivey struggled is because of AJ Hoggard. Our guy was GOATED on Saturday and I still can’t believe he pulled this sequence off
Favorite moment of the night: A Holloman poke leads to him, Coop, and Walker battling Watts for the ball. Whistle blows and Izzo gives us a fist pump, a Holloman high five, and mutual slaps with Watts
Izzo challenged this team to be tough, and they’re starting to answer call
Weird that ESPN tied the Jeremy Fears incident to the mass shooting that took place saying "The shooting is the latest incident of gun violence to impact the program."
It feels out of place and is a signal to me ESPN wanted to use the mass shooting in a story for some reason.
The Izzo fist pump. On Sunday we saw it many times: to get a push from his players; to stamp his approval on a hustle play
Izzo doesn’t just fist pump willy nilly. He does it in part because he also believes. He has always believed in this team. Something we can all learn from..
Coach K first wanted EVERY team to make the tournament and then comes out and says NOBODY should be playing
Look, I’m not here to downplay COVID, but it seems to me that someone doesn’t want to face the facts that his team really isn’t that good...
Rocket Watts brought quite a bit to Michigan State the last two years. He went on an absolute bender to finish his frosh season helping the program get a Big Ten championship, he was a dog and brought some bite, and he was a good teammate
I could listen to Tom Izzo talk about the simplicity of free throws all day
MSU is 77.6% from the line (95th percentile) with its best conversion rate since 04-05. On the flip side, they have a 23.2% FTA rate (9th%), and need to find more opportunities to get to the line
Little guy is officially five days old. He likes pooping, late night college hoops, NBA league pass, “Jungle Boogie”, 3 pointers, converting bunnies at the rim, and getting to the free throw line
Jaxon Kohler’s close to the 1st half against Indiana was the best stretch of his young career. His ability to outwit, out-hustle, and lock down TJD should be studied
His tip in was my favorite sequence. Caught TJD sleeping, bodied him out of position, and secured the score
MSU made Nebraska look silly for most of the second half thanks in part to clean ball movement and players moving efficiently in space. It doesn’t happen all of the time, but when the Spartans move the ball in rhythm, it’s beautiful to watch
Doing this consistently in March? 🤌🏼
