Bruh, all people want is a translation as faithful to the original intent as possible. Obviously not everything can be translated 1:1 between EN and JP, but the bare minimum is to not slap dated memes, political shoehorns and nonsense that wasn't in the original version in.
People who say "translate, don't localize" would be really confused if an English release of a game was just the Japanese copy of the game with a printed spreadsheet of the translated text bundled with it.
