4. Ethical issues. Goes with legal but even if you are legally justified in using lethal force it doesn't mean you have to or even should. As we were able to protect Capitol inhabitants with only one shot fired I would say we proved that non-lethal force was largely viable.

2. The guns. We knew many in the crowd had their own firearms, but we didn't know how many and what would induce people to use them. We we're comically outnumbered and if the attack devolved into a firefight there was a chance we'd be quickly annihilated, so we fought for time.

There were many instances where USCP and MPD would have been legally and ethically justified in using legal force against the insurrectionists. We used incredible restraint, and because of that casualties were kept to a minimum. The insurrectionists were treated beyond fairly.

For me it's when, during Trump's speech on the 6th, he was advised many in the crowd were armed. "They're not here to hurt *me*." . Implying he knew who they were there to hurt. And then he sent them to the Capitol, and to my colleagues and I.
Of all the quotes in this ordeal, the one that continues to stand out in my mind is Trump instructing his acting attorney general in December 2020 to "just say that the election was corrupt and leave the rest to me and the Republican congressmen." Indictment revives it.
