Last Saturday I spent the day at @tailopez 's new Beverly Hills Mansion. Here's the recap: - Further proof to build a brand and that social proof matters. It gets you in rooms you wouldn't get the opportunity to be in otherwise. - A big takeaway is grow within your vertical. Tai started hosting parties back when you would rent a TV to watch a sporting event. He charged people a few bucks for pizza and hoped to breakeven. Fast forward to today he sells out events around the world. He's playing the same game, in the same vertical just on much higher level. There's something to be learned from this. Do what you're good at, then do it enough where you can become the best at it. - Lots of great conversations, new connections, new potential partnerships in the works. Meeting people in real life is incredible alpha. - Had a great discussion with the guys at @WhopIO (1st pic). Mid 20s and have built their company to a multi 9 figure eval with investors like Peter Thiel and Kevin O’Leary. What you don't hear about is, the founders started at 13 and grew within their vertical. Common theme of young success, people started early but they still had to put in the time and the work. - Had a great conversation with @thebrianmoncada (2nd pic). The biggest players in the info space run their YouTube ads through him. He's no doubt the top guy for it. - Talked YouTube with @SamGolbach (4th pic), had never heard of him before our conversation. About 10 minutes in, I learned he has about ~17M across all platforms. I learned Tags on YT Videos are not a factor. He credits 90%+ of a videos success to the title and thumbnail, even more important then the video content itself. Very humble and down to earth guy. He's 27 now, started when he was 17. Are you seeing the trend? 10+ years in the game. - Talked with Jack Selby, co host of the Iced Coffee Hour with Graham Stephan, one of the top business podcast in the world. - Got recognized by a follower who asked to take a picture, first time that's happened. Pretty cool, Grateful. - Super impressed with Tai's team. I met them once over a couple days in Vegas last year. They meet and talk to tons of people. Yet they still knew who I was and what I did. Cool feeling honestly. Tai has said before some of his biggest fails he's had were hiring the wrong people. That is long in his past. His team members now all have a genuine vibe to them that stands out. The common theme with his team members is they got started in a random way. Many of them have been with Tai for a long time and their role has changed along the way. The takeaway from that is, hire genuine people who are willing to learn and work hard and it'll work itself out. - I talked to multiple very successful owners of Ad Agencies from various platforms. IG, TT, FB, Li, YT… Common theme they all said, I was the first person they’ve heard of who does Twitter ads. Which is great for business. But also means I need to do more marketing and get my service out there more. - There were multiple people where meeting them alone was worth the trip. And I met several of these people. - Tai's home is absolutely gorgeous... and HUGE. The house, the people, the conversations all extremely motivating. When you see and talk to people doing big things, it's encouraging of your own visions and dreams. Why not me? The dream is meant to be lived out.
