Twenty years ago, while working for the Credit Union movement, I paid £73 return Paddington to Swindon, a journey similar to Stirling/Edinburgh which, at the time cost £9.50, off peak.
A Glasgow-Edinburgh anytime return after this increase will be £32.60. Meanwhile, Easy Jet sent me an email yesterday offering £28 flights to the canaries.
