@notseelen @astro_Pettit Yeah, this one is really hard to wrap your head around. Essentially, the ISS is being pull towards the Earth. At the same time, is it travelling really quickly in a direction parallel to the earth. So, it is forever falling.

@notseelen @astro_Pettit It's probably more correct to say that there is gravity, but how they're experiencing it on the ISS is as if they are in freefall. If there was a mountain whose peak was at the orbit of the ISS, the gravity is about 90% as strong as at the earth's surface.

@pm_mcd @ProfPCDoherty Climatologists do consider the 800,000-year context, and today’s rapid changes are unprecedented. The last 50 years is just one of many pieces of evidence showing AGW is happening.

@pm_mcd @ProfPCDoherty Your point about historical sea level rise is interesting, but it shifts the discussion. We were looking at glacier retreat over recent decades, which is happening far too quickly to be explained by orbital cycles. Happy to discuss further if you’d prefer to focus on sea levels.

@pm_mcd @ProfPCDoherty Milankovitch cycles operate over tens of thousands of years, but current glacier retreat is happening over decades...far too fast to be explained by orbital changes. The evidence overwhelmingly points to human-caused warming as the driver. See: for more.

@MuseZack Doctor Who had a similar issue. By the end of the Tennant era there had been several attempted invasions, and EVERY HUMAN ON EARTH turning into the Master.

@manjusrii It is. And it reflects the frustration of people who feel powerless about systemic issues and see this as someone giving voice to their anger. That doesn't make the murder right. And at the same time I can see how it resonates strongly.
