Joseph Noenge Boende - 19 - CM - 🇧🇪 - €2.5M Boende, who's on loan from Juventus (which basically means he's going to leave eventually) was a name I had never heard of, but I liked his performance. He's got good stature (6'0 and 70KG), but with more muscle on him (not a discredit), I believe he has a high ceiling as a midfield powerhouse. He was extremely confident in challenges today, winning 4/5 ground duels, 2/2 aerial duels and 2/2 tackles. Mature in how he approaches challenges, timing his engagement well and having an understanding on how to utilise his length as opposed to just chucking his body weight at it, which can be common in young players. In possession, he retained possession extremely well for a player who is only playing his second game at the club, and was thrown into a tough game. He is one of them profiles where their technical ability, specifically control in tight areas and angles, doesn't match their physicality. Whether it was neat touches, or application of size, he was inevitable in keeping the ball, literally. He was dispossessed 0 times. Having 6 recoveries, his ability to cover ground is important his positional contribution, alongside less of a physical, but more technical presence in Cognat, therefore, in my eyes, he done his role well. Most of the game flowed through Cognat out of the pairing in terms of progression, but with 21/26 passes completed, with 3 into the final third and 1/2 accurate long passes, he has potential in this regard. Even at that, this match is a tough representation of this as Servette conceded possession comfortably, being more direct in their approach. With 242 accurate passes at a 72% rate, the difference is clear in approach with Basel's 462 at a 84% rate in comparison. In conclusion, I can't wait to see more of him and will track his progress, as I believe with the right development, he can reach very high levels.
