I don’t know if our military is too large…I just think a lot of money is wasted needlessly in fulfillment of worthless mandates—as happens throughout the whole government.
I am extremely pro-military, but after serving for 8 years and then working as a consultant, I'm convinced that military spending could be cut by as much as 20% without any negative impact on readiness. In fact, such cuts could potentially enhance readiness. I've personally observed maddening amounts of waste firsthand. There should be no sacred cows; we need to cut ruthlessly and efficiently.
