My cousin Tim Assman passed away on Friday from a tragic accident. He was 39 years old. He was one of the good ones. Couldn’t find a better cow hand or friend. There’s a good chance several of you on here have ran into him at a bar or rodeo dance somewhere along the way.

I was trying to explain gravity to my 3 year old and I said,
“When you jump up in the air, gravity pulls you back down.”
My 3 year old ponders this for awhile and says,
“Well what about birds then?”
I looked him right in the eye and said,
“Birds aren’t real son.”

4:00pm December 23, 2022. Highway 18, 2 miles East of Assman Implement and Hidden Timber Road. 20+ vehicles lined up behind a West bound DOT snow blower. -2 degrees. 20mph winds. Took me 4 hours to make it the 3.5 miles up to Highway 18 with the snow blower.

Made it up the road 2 miles to feed one herd of cows for the first time since Monday. My path had drifted back in by the time we went back home. 9 miles east of Mission SD.

My father in law is a Knight of Columbus and every year they volunteer to put wreaths on all the graves at the veterans cemetery in the Black Hills. This is the first year he’s had to place one on my late uncles grave. Edwin Assman US Army Vietnam. Airborne Medic. Purple Heart.

Fence line feed bunk discussion. 12 or 15 foot pad? If you use steel bottomless bunk Do you set bunk on pad or just off the pad on rock? Will the bunks need anchored down? Discuss. Never been around Fenceline feed Bunks always just opened the gate.
