The year was 1958, and Tibet lay shrouded in the eerie stillness of night. A dense fog clung to the mountainsides, creeping down into the valleys and enveloping the ancient city of Lhasa in a ghostly mist. Inside the stone walls of a grand monastery
This was an Independence Day parade, yesterday, in Riga, Latvia.
While waving around both Ukrainian 🇺🇦 and Latvian 🇱🇻 flags, you can also hear them singing.
That song is the Latvian version of SS Marschiert, the famous marching song of Nazi Germany's paramilitary Waffen-SS 💀

Also, correct me if I'm wrong, but while an Adam's apple is more prominent among the average cis male, plenty of cis women have it too. It's not a gender-exclusive attribute like we're led to believe
🧵 I don't think a lot of self-proclaimed communists understand or appreciate the fine line legitimate Marxists inside the US have to walk when addressing situations like what's taking place in

$500+??? I fucking wish! That + is doing some real heavy lifting bc $500 *might* cover an MRI scan *if* you're insured. No insurance? An MRI alone is anywhere between $1,000-5,000. Full body medical assessment? Depending on insured or not, $2,000-10,000 😭
Those facts being:
1. The concerns and grievances of Kazakh poor and working class are legitimate;
2. The uprising itself is still highly disorganized; and
3. Western imperialists and local bourgeois opportunists are taking advantage of that disorganization...
With that in mind, the most disciplined response that US communists can provide rn is to continue laying out the material facts as they come in and to demand that US imperialists and their allies to keep their greedy claws out of Kazakhstan!
Especially concerning given the involvement of the right-wing Democratic Choice of Kazakhstan (QDT), which is led by fugitive billionaire Mukhtar Ablyazov, who's still wanted for embezzlement. No one should be under the illusion they represent the interests of Kazakh poor...
I mention all this because while the uprising did emerge from legitimate concerns and grievances by the country's poor and working class, communists on the ground have noted just how disorganized the uprising really is, with power grabs from multiple sides
Just to be open about this, I created and continue to run The Selected Works of Deng Xiaoping--Modern Day Contributions to Marxism-Leninism website via Wordpress.
On the other hand, with the Communist Party of Kazakhstan (QKP) being outlawed (alongside the Trotskyist party Socialist Movement of Kazakhstan), the main legally organized parties and orgs involved in this uprising are bourgeois in nature...
The most important thing is to not allow your emotions to cloud your judgement, to not allow either idealism or empiricism to take precedence over a material observation and analysis of the ever-evolving conditions there. Dialectical materialism matters here more than ever...
We should also be honest regarding the fact that Western imperialists are being quite forthright in their support of the uprising as well. From the EU to the US, the Tokayev-led govt has been a thorn to their side as Kazakhstan makes allies out of Russia and China...
And 2) the gas price hikes were more like the final straw that broke the camel's back. The amount of poverty and oppression that the Kazakh poor and working class have been subjected to by the bourgeois Tokayev-led govt (and those that came before them) are undeniable...
Couple this with the fact that CIA-mirror orgs like the NGO National Endowment for Democracy (NED) have been funnelling money into bourgeois opposition parties and orgs throughout the country, the QDT being one of the likely recipients
@JUNlPER
Just an FYI, as a skater who regularly watches skateboarding competitions, the kids (aged 11 and younger) fucking *shred*! Zero fear and super creative. No serious skater finds this a problem, rather are quite supportive of the youngblood. Same goes with trans skaters. All love
One mistake I've noticed is in the assumption that the uprising spontaneously emerged from gas price hikes, which naturally sparks skepticism because gas price hikes occur elsewhere without uprisings emerging in response. 1) No two country's conditions are alike...
Each side aiming to vie for power have similar demands, from the resignation of the current government to the release of all political prisoners. The difference, however, is the bourgeois side is demanding for mass privatization, while socs/coms demand mass nationalization...
It should be noted that the QKP have yet to make a statement themselves on the situation and would ask for everyone interested into what's going on to patiently wait for their take on the matter...
The Trotskyist party Socialist Movement of Kazakhstan has called for international support of the uprising, and included in their demands their party's legalization and the legalization of the Communist Party (QKP)...
But with all of this weighed in, how should communists in the US—inside the belly of the beast—respond? Again, everything is ever-evolving as more facts and information come in on the situation. All we can go by are the material facts at the time...

The US is a settler-colonial state, but Settlers/Sakai is a poor source for understanding its relation with today's capitalism-imperialism. Might I recommend far more substantive sources like Gerald Horne .
And when we say Gorby sabotaged the USSR's sovereignty, in March 1991, the entire federation held a referendum vote on whether or not to preserve their system. With an 80% voting turnout, over 113 million citizens (72%) voted yes.
Despite that, however, they still dissolved it.
Minor nitpick but an important one for socialists to keep in mind: the Soviet Union did not “collapse,” it was dissolved.
More specifically, sabotaged by Gorbachev and dissolved by Yeltsin out in the middle of a forest

If they aspire to be a communist that organizes, then absolutely yes. Not everyone aspires to be that though. There are communists and then there are communist sympathizers
But here's the 🍒 on top: While life is better working under a union, those workers that aren't under a union are still benefiting from the union's agitation and organizing efforts. Without the union, non-unionized workers would also be enjoying less benefits, guaranteed
Such a good speech by the Communist Party of the Russian Federation's Chairman Zyuganov!
He starts by congratulating Putin on defending Russian sovereignty by accepting the Donbas regions' voting for national inclusion, saying it embodies the history of their socialist spirit.
