Scanner Cat Has Died: Beloved pet since 2011 and the mascot of Scanner News STL since 2017, Scanner Cat, died at 9:59 A-M today (2-13-23) at age 11. He leaves behind his three humans who raised him and more than 30-thousand Followers on social media platforms. Thanks---Dave

Health Update, More Good News: I met with my SLU Hospital oncologist yesterday (1-11-22). Based on the greatly improved results of my recent PET scan and my stable Kappa and Lambda Free Light Chain blood work numbers, she reported I am basically plasmacytoma free now. Thanks-Dave

Update: This new profile picture, taken 5-13-23, shows my hair has grown back since chemotherapy took it away in 2020. Both my cancers remain in remission. I go back for a six-month follow-up in mid-June.

Scanner Cat Update: After going a week eating a total of only two grams of cat food, Scanner Cat ate 12 grams today (2-3-23) after getting his first dose of Mirataz® transdermal ointment, an appetite stimulant. Won't cure Lymphoma, but may give us some extra time with him.

Personal Note: My battle with Stage 3 Hodgkin Lymphoma continued with Cycle 6 of chemotherapy yesterday (6-4-20). I gained 8 pounds in two weeks after Cycle 5 and weighed in at 131. Oncologist said we are likely at the halfway point in the chemo treatments and they are working.

Scanner Cat is at an emergency vet appointment this morning (1-30-23) because he essentially stopped eating and drinking this weekend due to complications from hyperthyroidism. We are hoping for the best possible outcome. He has been our pet since 2011, mascot since 2017.

*One of our feral cats, Good Girl, has died tonight (4-5-24) shortly after being rushed by our neighbors to VSS in Manchester.
*The vet there determined GG had previously undetected coronary disease and suffered a blood clot today.
*GG's exact age was unknown.

Personal Note: My battle with Stage 3 Hodgkin Lymphoma continued with Cycle 3 of chemotherapy on Thursday (4-23-20). My doctor also said "you are recovering" and my lab results looked good overall, especially my white blood cell count. Hope you and yours are well and healthy.

of chemotherapy for Stage 3 Hodgkin Lymphoma today (8-13-20). White blood cell count and red blood cell count were both improved. Next, and possibly final, chemo is 8-27-20 and then I'll get a scan to see if the cancer is gone.

Health Update, Good News: I met with my SLUCare oncologist today (7-13-21) who specializes in multiple myeloma. Based on the "stable" results of my recent PET scan and blood work, she suggested I just get blood work done again in 3 months, and get another PET scan in 6 months.

Personal Note: My battle with Stage 3 Hodgkin Lymphoma continued with Cycle 5 of chemotherapy on Thursday. I gained one pound in the two weeks after Cycle 4 and weighed in at 123. My white blood cell count was way up at 20 and my red blood cell count was at 10, also improved.

Scanner Cat Stops Eating Again: After a promising weekend, SC has not eaten anything since 4:45 A-M Monday. We spoke with his Vet's office twice Monday and will be calling them back today (2-7-23) to discuss options that are in Scanner's best interest. Thanks-Dave

Personal Note, Surgery Update: The removal of a lymph node in my left side was successful yesterday (3-31-21) and I got home at 8:15 P-M. Early speculation is that it's Hodgkin's again, but that can only be confirmed by biopsy results. I'll continue to Tweet as often as I can.

Positive Personal News Update: My bone marrow biopsy results showed no signs of multiple myeloma, so that has been ruled out. Now, plans can start on localized radiation for the malignant lump on my left side. Stay safe, be well, and enjoy 'turn back the clock' weekend.

Received treatment 10 of chemotherapy for my Stage 3 Hodgkin Lymphoma today (7-30-20). My white blood cell count was very low so they have me back on Neulasta® Onpro®, and taking Levofloxacin for a week. Positive news: My weight was 142, and test showed my 'lungs are normal'.

Personal Note Three: Biopsy Results: Today (3-18-20) I was officially diagnosed with Stage 3 Hodgkin lymphoma. If chemotherapy works, the cure rate is 70-percent. I will continue to Post as much as I can during this time. Thanks.

Scanner Cat Back Home After Emergency Vet Visit; Needs Ultrasound: A four-hour emergency vet visit today (1-30-23), brought both good news and no news. The blood results showed his kidney and liver levels are within normal range. Reason for not eating and drinking unknown.

•We saw this sign on a traffic signal post on eastbound Highway 30 in the left turn lanes for Gravois Road tonight. There are also reports the sign has been spotted in Imperial and near River Des Peres.

Positive News: My echocardiogram results today (8-21-20) showed heart function is normal and the pericardial effusion (buildup of extra fluid in the space around the heart) I had been dealing with since March has cleared up and is no longer a concern. Photo from June 2020.

Personal Health Update: At an appointment with a radiation oncologist today (11-10-20), I was officially diagnosed with solitary plasmacytoma. Recommended treatment plan for me is 25 consecutive radiation treatments, excluding weekends and holidays. Could begin late November.

Berkeley Mo Firefighters Rescue Tabby in Tree Tonight (7-21-23):
•Crews on Ladder vehicle 3612 responded to the 3900 block of Brown Road and safely and successfully rescued the cat.
•The cat sustained no injuries and was returned to its owner.
