Bereavement leave
Bereavement Leave (Recommendation 68) You may have seen in the press this week another of our recommendations from the PLR (Pregnancy Loss Review) - ‘bereavement leave for those who experience a pre-24-week loss’ is hopefully soon to be implemented. Sam and I are passionate that people should be legally entitled to leave when they experience loss. The fact that employers can insist that their staff return to work hours after experiencing a heartbreaking loss is beyond cruel, and it also creates a risk of further long term mental and physical health implications down the line. We have already seen recommendation 69 be implemented around NHS staff bereavement leave, so we are hopeful that leave will soon be available for all. I would like to thank the Women and Equalities Committee, which is led by Sarah Owen MP for helping us get this recommendation nearer to being implemented. Thanks also to the charities who have stood alongside us and Mariposa International (Saying Goodbye) as we have campaigned to make this happen. 1/2 - continued

Nominate today
Did you have excellent baby loss care? Was the care you received in the UK? If the answer to both of those questions is yes, you can thank the individual or the team by nominating them for a prestigious Mariposa Award. It takes 5 minutes to make a nomination and there is no better way to celebrate amazing individuals who have gone above and beyond in their duty of care.
