According to archives of the official No More Heroes blog, there were investigators who were tracking Travis during his ranking fights for "background checks".
One such investigator, "Investigator K", was killed during Speed Buster's fight.

In the NMH timeline, this would likely take place around at least 2121 --- 100 years after the events of No More Heroes 3.
