"Induced demand" has been understood for decades, here's a quote from an "Expert" writing in the 1960s. The council should be guided by evidence, not opinions, before making expensive mistakes.

Last October, the head of Oaklands school urged Mayor @LutfurRahmanTH to consider the welfare of his 1,000 students before increasing traffic outside his school. The mayor did not listen. 5 schools in Bethnal Green are now urging the mayor to re-consider these dangerous plans.

Representatives of our record-breaking petition, who were ignored by the mayor at council last week, are seeking a meeting with the mayor to discuss the scheme. We hope that @LutfurRahmanTH will fulfil his promise to listen to stakeholders and meet with them.

Great turnout today. We are riding in support of safer streets for all residents in Tower Hamlets, both young and old.
We’re campaigning for safer streets - fighting @TowerHamletsNow ’s and @LutfurRahmanTH ’s crazy plans to remove school roads and street calming across the borough. Today adults and children cycle to @chisenhale to #resist a procar propollution council #kidicalmassldn @SaveOldBGR

2/4 “As a Respiratory Consultant and father, I am very concerned about the impact of pollution on the development of children’s lungs and the health of those with respiratory conditions. Any changes that increase traffic on residential streets are risking people’s health."

Tower Hamlets has the third lowest rate of car ownership in London. Yet Lutfur Rahman wants to turn small residential roads in Bethnal Green into relief valves for heavy traffic. Oppose this dangerous plan by voting for Option 2 online:

Emergency service vehicles having no issue going through the Columbia Road closure. The council has cherry picked anecdotes in it's consultation but our FoI research shows that Liveable Streets made no negative impact for ambulance response times in E2.
