If fantasy fans are sad that JK Rowling is a bigot, just remember that Giles (AKA Anthony Stewart Head) has the biggest heart in the world and he will always stand with trans kids. 💜💙💜
Worth remembering that the Paul O’Grady Show was massive. More viewers than Richard & Judy. Today we have Holly and Phil taking selfies with Boris Johnson and playing “spin to win” your energy bills.
Its not easy to say this, but victims of hideous crimes are not necessarily experts on prevention. Campaigns like this are misguided, but they’re less likely to be scrutinised. MPs know this and use it to their advantage when they tag along and avoid committing to real change.
We are immensely saddened to announce our dear friend Dawn Foster (
@DawnHFoster
) died suddenly at home this week, related to her long-term illness. I am deeply thankful for the time we had with her. She lit up our lives.
👋Hello. A new series of
#AmazingHotels
starts on
@BBCTwo
tonight. It is fronted by Giles Coren who spent its production celebrating the death of Dawn Foster: a young journalist with disabilities who died aged 34. She was also my friend and I loved her.
A Labour source has told me they’re going to nationalise BOOKS next. There will be a carpeted building in every town where you can ‘borrow’ them, but you have to take a VOW OF SILENCE before entering?!?
Russell Brand has a history of violence against sex workers and he wrote about that in his ‘Booky Wook.’ This chapter includes him smashing a woman’s phone against a wall.
Last year the Regional Court of Cologne ruled that denying that trans people were targeted by the Nazis qualifies as "a denial of Nazi crimes".
Reporters need to cover this story and get comment from
@RosieDuffield1
@UKLabour
and Holocaust educators.
This is Rosie Duffield, a Labour MP, liking a tweet that contains Holocaust revisionism. Trans people and gay people were sent to die in concentration camps by the Nazis.
This is a historical fact, and it is disgusting that a sitting Labour MP would approve of its denial.
This submission is so good I’ve donated £5 to
@Genderintell
to improve the lives of trans and non-binary people in the UK.
If the gutter press wants to make this about money, let’s do it.
I’ve said before that

Well 'hun' thanks for asking-we now have commitment of the lords and response of the minister to the amendment. The brilliant

@Sarah_Woolley
so if you want to cover this and help ensure it happens do get in touch...
Not every teenager has loving parents. Imagine a young person at a school that outs trans/non-binary students to their parents (something the Tories are pushing for). They want to access help online, but it’s flagged to an abusive caregiver as “harmful.” They’re trapped.
When 8 months of work is this sloppy and broad it comes across as client journalism for the Online Safety Bill. I gleaned very little from learning how often MPs are called "liars", "fools", or "vandals."
July 17 marks 20 years since the death of David Kelly. I hope a good writer looks back on that and considers how the press and the publishing world rehabilitate evil. It is still astonishing to hear Campbell chuckling away on podcasts and mental health campaigns.
Incorrect. Jess Phillips has never read out a complete list. Phillips and the author of Counting Dead Women deliberately exclude the names of murdered trans women (or as the founder of CDW calls them: 'males').
"Killed women are not vanishingly rare. Killed women are common."

I feel sorry for good writers at Glamour when it normalises Carrie Symonds’ bigoted party and her racist partner. And yes she is complicit in that.
Same piece describes Nimco Ali “as feminist as they come” after her comments on ‘bum boys’.
Hope their office isn’t this toxic.
Police say “no offences were committted” at the protest outside Tower Hamlets Labour on Cambridge Heath Rd. No threats or intimidation reported in the article

MPs must be able to do their work without intimidation and threats. Solidarity with
@rushanaraali
and I hope police will take action on threats of violence.
There will be others but predators know that sex workers face a particular kind of hatred and discrimination when they come forward. And there’s still a cohort of people who see sex workers as disposable shock absorbers for male violence.

When the Daily Mail says a murdered child is “pictured for the first time” what they actually mean is “our gutter hacks found a TikTok before the family released photos or statements.”
IPSO guidance below on publishing images without a parent’s permission.
I’m aware people are sharing the “Giles was nice to a trans guy” story again, and yes, many people who tagged me, it is me. Back in January 2015 when I came out as Trans Anthony Head and his wonderful wife Sarah reached out and invited me to come to their farm for the day.
One year since the death of Dawn Foster (

“The reason that they have those sources and they have those facts is because they are seen as the most pliable mouthpieces.”

Nick Cohen continued to harass women after he got sober. Everyone trying to spin this as a booze issue knows this (as if alcohol is remotely an excuse anyway).
Seeing Giles Coren gloat over a brilliant woman's death (whilst his Sunday Times colleagues remained silent) hurt and disturbed me and others who loved Dawn. It was hideous to see when we were arranging everything that has to happen after a sudden death.
This week I was in the process of applying to be a case study specialist at

Have I told you about the time Frances Weetman grassed on some students for playing The Inbetweeners Movie too loudly and compared their reaction to Nazi Germany?
@danwootton
Your paper published a hit list of people from a nazi website before deleting it.
Your editors are currently deleting articles that mocked Caroline.
You work for a paper with a body count. Enjoy your money!
@petesherlock79
Interesting. I’m struggling to get much insight from this article when racist tweets and rape threats are conflated with accounts calling MPs ‘thick’ or ‘liars.’
What I do understand is the love & loyalty of Dawn's friends. It has marked me deeper than anything Giles Coren can inflict.
I doubt he'll ever experience a professional consequence but to live on this earth without knowing a fierce & boundless love is tragic.
#DawnFosterForever
Solidarity with Dawn Foster and every woman driven off this website because nazis threaten to rape and murder them. Watching right wing rent-a-gobs enjoy this is disgusting.

Beayeux Tapestry's a bit mainstream. The Quaker tapestry has 'Comrade Mary' - an east London social worker. When she was knocked down by a tram she refused to be put in an ambulance until she had written down "It was not the tram driver's fault, it was my fault. Mary Hughes."
Can’t stop thinking about how I’d vote in a heartbeat for a politician who said “free eyecare, free dentistry, free IVF” but the press is addicted to misery and would call them a terrorist.
Seeing people say that if you don't watch GMB then it, and Piers, will go away.
That's not remoteable achievable or how it works. Katie Hopkins was sacked afer public pressure & high profile people refusing to go on LBC.
People with clout need to hold ITV to a higher standard.
The way this is all unfolding reminds me so much of the lead up to the Online Safety Act. There’s a good thread here on how that went awry as experts were ignored.
As the phrase goes, "Hard cases make bad law."
Zoe Williams uses the death of Molly Russell - a 14-yo who killed herself in 2017 following after viewing a lot of online content about suicide & depression - to call for the Online Safety Bill but global...
Last month Keir Starmer vowed to halve violence against women and girls. But he's allowing a senior advisor to keep his job after he sexually harassed a young intern. A groping complaint was upheld twice.
I really appreciate everyone who complained to the BBC, despite them giving us all the same response: that Giles Coren 'appears' on their shows but is not employed by them. (If you complain again, please cite appearing as the issue.)

"WI members are not just accepting, but actively supportive & are welcoming me to the sisterhood”
Lovely story that shows how out of touch transphobia is. The Women's Institue formally adopted a trans-inclusive policy in the early 00s. Just got on with it
The Guardian’s obituary for Dawn is up. It was written by a good friend of Dawn’s.
We are missing her terribly, but the beautiful tributes to fordawnhfoster

Aged 13 I went over to a mate's house and she asked "do you want to watch My Best Friend's Wedding?" I paused and asked "....how old is your friend?"
Wasn't invited back.
Rupert Myers has sexually harassed so many women I know. If you rebuf or fight back he’ll try to humiliate you like when he wrote a scene in a play with a political journo masturbating in a toilet cubicle. Watching him make snide comments about women he’s harassed is staggering.
I don't have any interest in why Giles Coren celebrates women dying.
Dawn tweeted about Coren having a famous dad, but their only interaction came when he repeatedly defended Rupert Myers: a journo who sexually harasses women. Maybe that struck a nerve.
reminder that giles coren hated dawn foster for other reasons that pointing out his dad was famous - she also pulled him up on his repeated attempts to protect accused serial harasser and predator, his pal rupert myers (via a 🔒account)
I’m not jazzed about the prospect of 500 op-eds on ‘indie sleaze in the 00s’ if it’s in lieu of getting specific about the employers and people that enable abuse to this day. Often in mundane and timeless ways that need to be battled by unions, inquiries, and public pressure.
