Over the weekend, I wrote about what all of those stats like "AI could replace the equivalent of 300 million jobs" actually mean:

Not going into a physical office means getting to skip a lot of awkward small talk (“Were you trying?”) and unexpected belly rubs. But also more control over when you share your news and with whom — more like how expectant dads have always been able to handle it.

Professor folks: If I am not your student, should I still be addressing you as "Prof. [last name]"? I never know how to begin my emails to you!

Important point in story from @emmabgo - measuring work from home is complicated, particularly with all the hybrid arrangements that have popped up, and the gov data may not be the most accurate way:

Many of the women who I talked with felt relieved to not have their pregnant bellies front-and-center. Sometimes for practical reasons (client meetings are more efficient if you don't have to discuss that yes, you’re pregnant; nobody knows if you wear leggings every day).

But many also mentioned fears that they’d be treated differently by their colleagues or have fewer opportunities at work. Two of them interviewed for jobs while visibly pregnant and said they were glad to not worry that their pregnancies would impact the outcome.

@stuloeser To me it feels like it could be too formal for an email, or that "Dr." could be more appropriate. I wonder if it's a generational difference, in the same way that "Yeah?" would usually read as rude to me, but probably does not to you.

One reaction people have to reporting about labor in the gig economy is "this isn't driven by technology." No, it's not, but online labor marketplaces / apps do make it possible for trends like outsourcing and contract labor to show up in new places and ways.

My latest @verge : "Drop servicing" is the new millionaire mindset side hustle: You buy cheap labor on gig platforms like Fiverr & resell it for profit. Jobs incl. social media marketing, copywriting, graphic design, etc. Clients/workers don't always know:

@emmabgo That has resulted in measurements from different sources that ranged from ~10 percent to ~30 percent of all U.S. workers working in the "gig economy," all of which are often cited without any qualification.

@chrissyfarr I found it easier to carry frozen milk on the way home, if you can find a freezer. No problems with security. The airline will count a cooler and a pump bag as two carry on items (only one is permitted as a free "extra"), so it's better to have a bag with the cooler built in

@WillOremus This is either 100 percent true or 100% true. I'd add one more option, but then there's the serial comma discussion ...

@ShiraOvide Oh no, I'm now in the same rabbit hole. Did not remember the part of this video where an actual horse hands her a towel as she exits the bath. Brilliant.
