When Saša Cvjetan was convicted for the massacre of my family,we were asked if justice had been served.While there is never justice when your family is slaughtered,we had hoped that at least some lessons would be learned. Unfortunately,as we’ve seen it’s far from reality. 1/7
There were no mass killings between Kosovo and Serbia.
There were mass killings by the Serbian government towards Albanians in Kosovo and they didn’t spare children. I survived one of those killings but unfortunately not my brothers and my cousin who were, 9, 12 and 14 years old
On this day, 23 years ago, the Serbian army left me and my four cousins for dead, slumped among the corpses of 14 of our most loved ones - all women and children. Today we remember and honor their lives, whilst continuing to seek justice for all victims and survivors of war.
Cvjetan was sentenced to 20 years in prison, but in 2018 he was released three and a half years before his sentence was completed for "good behavior." Now, he has been arrested for more criminal activity. A killer of children has been allowed to roam the streets of Europe. 6/7
Cvjetan was a member of the Scorpion unit that massacred thousands of men and boys in Srebrenica in the early 90s. The same unit (which is not a paramilitary group but rather a police reserved unit within the Internal Affairs of Serbia) also massacred my family. 4/7
I was informed last night that seven days ago, Cvjetan was arrested in Athens🇬🇷as one of the leaders of a drug cartel. The police not only confiscated drugs, but also explosives and other arms. 2/7
The head of the Kosovo* Assembly delegation to PACE,

#WesternBalkans
. It's a first - the Bureau decided to allow members of the delegation to speak in this debate.
Full verbatim:
1/2 Next month marks 23 years of the massacre of my family, from one of the deadliest wars in Europe after the second world war.
To wake up to the news of Russia’s aggression to Ukraine is heart wrenching.
“Kill one Serb, and we will kill hundred Muslims”, Vucic said chillingly in July 1995, as the Srebrenica massacre was under way, & over 8,000 men & boys were systematically executed. Almost 30 yrs have passed, yet still no remorse—only the disturbing pride from a genocide denier.
Because of ignorant people like you who have created platforms like yours, this world is becoming unliveable. Don’t talk about something you clearly have no knowledge of. Shameful
1/2 This photograph marked a place in history 23 years ago.
A mother trying to breastfeed her 6 months old baby as they run away from heavy shelling by the Serbian army.
Today both the mother Sherife Luta and her daughter Besarta live to tell their tail.

If Bill Clinton hadn’t bombed Belgrade, I wouldn’t be alive today, just like my family who were massacred by the Belgrade regime.
As far as normalisation of relations between the two countries, has Serbia recognised Kosovo as an independent state?
2/2 My heart goes out to the Ukrainian people, to friends and their families, with hope and prayer that this conflict stops and people will not have to endorse the cruelty of war.
@ViolavonCramon
I have a question for you. I am the Vice - President of the Assembly of Republic of Kosovo but also I am British, according to you I should not use my right to vote in the UK because of what reason exactly?
1/3
I cannot understand what this is all about. On one hand everyone in Kosovo complains about interference from Serbia or from President
@avucic
himself but on the other hand here does the PM of
#Kosovo
even vote in a neighbouring state. Not acceptable. At least not for me.
It is concerning to find out that the Monastery of Deçani nominated by
@FRH_Europe
has been selected by
@europanostra
as one of the

heritage sites.
The reasons stated are not based on facts and do not reflect the current reality.

I have led 🇽🇰’s delegation for over three years now and I regret to say that such rhetorics, and I will not refrain from calling it what it is anymore-lies, have been said in continuity by my colleague
@elvirakovaq
and other members of the Serbian delegation at
@PACE_News
.
Ka mbetë edhe pak kohë për të votuar.
Shfrytëzone këtë të drejtë për të ngritë zërin e juaj dhe për të vendos për të ardhmen e vendit.
Për vendin me plotë dashni ♥️
I don’t understand how such a thing is possible and what is the validity of this event to have a person like Dacic in the panel. Does it mean that more of such platforms will be available to men like him and to normalise sexual violence during a war?
Ivica Dacic, S Milosevic's right hand, speaks about prevention of
#CRSV
, on the most important global platform for Prevention of Sexual Violence in Conflict. Survivors of CRSV committeed by Serb forces in Croatia, Bosnia and Kosovo in the audience. How on Earth is this possible?
What I find most shocking is that a platform like Sbunker, who I’ve always admired for their work, didn’t contact anyone from the delegation to confirm wether such claims are true or not and to give Ms Kovaq a platform to spread such lies.
I find this kind of rhetoric shameful.

“Thirty years ago, in Bosnia, Belgrade-backed death squads carried out some of the worst violence on European soil since World War II. Even now, many of the killers walk free, some on the same streets as their victims’ families.”
Many thanks to my dear friend Ambasador

Wonderful meeting the Vice President
@Valerie_Rabault
at the

of 🇫🇷. Fantastic discussions on the field of human rights, gender equality, TJ, heritage and art.
Today we have Enis Kervan from the Turkish community part of the delegation and one empty seat for the Serbian community who have refused to participate.
All the information on every session is send to them and we’ve not had as much as one response.
From day one when it was made possible for the delegation from Kosova to participate at PACE, two places were reserved for the minority communities, one for the Serbian representatives and one for the other minorities.
2/2 Today on celebrating Kosova’s liberation day we celebrate new life and hope for a much better deserved future, as the baby Besarta who clenched to her life then, today is getting ready to become a mother herself.
Good always prevails over evil.
Big congratulations to Blerta Basholli

It makes me feel so proud to see all of the achievements my beautiful country has had over the last two decades through our incredible independent artists.

1/2 Today marks the National Day of Persons of Enforced Disappearance during the war in Kosova.
On this day we also remember 377 civilians killed in Mejë, Gjakova. This day marks the largest massacre by the Serbian Army in Kosova during the war.
The Monastery of Deçani benefits from extensive legislation at the highest level of the constitution of Kosovo.
Europa Nostra failed to consult with local heritage professionals and other stakeholders but chose to politicise the matter under Serbia’s influence.

A firm stand had to come from the international community for the injustice of Serbia on this matter as well as the treatment of other minorities in the country.

I’m appalled at the fact that you are a rapporteur for Kosove and constantly portrays biases as well as commenting on issues without verification of facts.

Krejt çka mund të ju them në ketë ditë është, që të dëgjohet zëri i familjarëve dhe atyre që mbijetuan dhe përherë do të jemi në rrugën e drejt për të fituar edhe këtë betejë të fundit me Serbinë.

A wonderful place with wonderful people.
Politicians and women like Madam Secretary Madeleine Albright are rare. A great loss not only for United States but for the world. Forever grateful for her humanity and standing for Kosova through some of our most difficult times. Madam Albright’s legacy will forever live on.
@ViolavonCramon
Last but most importantly, drawing parallels in relation to Kosovo through Vicic or Serbia, I find it disturbing as there are no such parallels. 3/3
It’s been an honour to host

Thanks to Arians Qosaj-Mustafa for presenting the report on Sexism, Harassment and Sexual Harassment within institutions.

Most women I know have experienced a form of harassment and sexism.
It is our joint obligation to make sure that we have a safe and equal environment for women and girls in our societies.

- Ultimately, the use of “the Balkans” and or “Kosovo” as a synonym for chaos is but one aspect of a pervasive mindset that has come to characterise contemporary political debate; the notion that “we” are better than, and different from, “you.”
My response to those who reacted to events in

by declaring "It looks like the Balkans!"
'Preserving the image of the West...as civilised, stable and worthy of adoration, demands the creation of a parallel image of the “other” which is violent and dysfunctional...'
April 14th is the saddest day of my life. Even though it has been 23 years, I still cant get past the trauma I endured by a Serbian police officer, and civilian. My heart goes out to all of the war victims
Today we remember all the innocent lives lost during the Manchester Arena Bomb. My thoughts are with the families and those that survived on this difficult day of remembrance.🙏🏻🧡 🐝
