They return their top 2 scorers & 7 of their top 8, including sr Marley Martin (6'1"--4.1ppg, 1.4bpg), jrs @KeavenyIzzy (5'9"--14.8ppg, 6.2rpg) & @Clara_Keaveny (5'9"--14.6ppg, 3.2apg), & sophs Harper Hokenson (5'7"--6.1ppg) & Hallie Hunter (6'--4.8ppg). [Izabelle Keaveny & Clara Keaveny earned MGBCA Class A All-State HM.] Leading Contenders: Goodhue (@GoodhueAct ) Goodhue (28-5, #1) won the Class A state championship with a 70-65 victory over Mountain Iron-Buhl (29-4, #3). They lost their leading scorer, current @MinnStWBB player @ElisabethGad25 , & their 5th leading scorer, but return the rest of their roster, including sr @khlodermeier (5'11"--15.0ppg), jr @ThomfordeNat3 (5'7"--8.6ppg), & sophs @LolaChrist954 (7.1ppg) & @kenz_lodermeier (5'8"--4.4ppg), who appears ready to take on an expanded role. They are in Section 1 with Spring Grove (see below). [Gadient & Kendyl Lodermeier earned MGBCA Class A All-State.] Sleepy Eye St. Mary's (@SESMKnights ) Sleepy Eye St. Mary's (21-8) lost in a sectional semifinal to Buffalo Lake-Hector-Stewart (29-4, #4). They return their entire roster (9 of their 10 players were underclassmen last year), highlighted by jr @nataliebfischer (5'6"--13.1ppg) & sophs @mmathiowetz3 (5'7"--28.9ppg, 8.2rpg, 4.1apg, 3.4spg), @kyliepelzel (5'5"--8.6ppg), & Brynne Ibberson (5'7"--8.1ppg, 6.0rpg). [Mathiowetz earned MGBCA Class A All-State HM.] Walker-Hackensack-Akeley (@WOLVESofWHA ) Walker-Hackensack-Akeley (25-8) lost to eventual state runner-up Mountain Iron-Buhl (29-4, #3) before beating Fosston (29-4) and dropping their season finale to Mayer Lutheran (21-11) to finish 6th. They return their entire roster, including srs @AubreyM0rrison (5'6"--18.5ppg, 3.7apg), Ava Welk (6'--13.3ppg, 11.7rpg, 1.4bpg), @AveryM2025 (5'8"--9.8ppg, 3.8apg), @BrittaRand35216 (5'7"--8.2ppg, 3.1apg), & Adyson Kurtz (5'11"--7.5ppg, 5.4rpg), & jr Makenna Oelschlager (5'10"--7.8ppg). [Aubrey Morrison earned MGBCA Class A All-State HM.] Sleepers: Cass Lake-Bena (@CLBSchools ) Cass Lake-Bena (21-7) dropped a high-scoring 73-69 sectional quarterfinal game to conference rival Northome/Kelliher (25-4, #8). Minimal stats are available, but they appear to return their top 3 scorers & a number of role players, including srs @BSUBeaversWBB commit @GabbyFineday (5'7") & @uhnotlex (5'4"), & fr @Rfairbanks2028 . Spring Grove (@sg_gbb ) Spring Grove (23-6) lost to eventual state champion Goodhue (28-5, #1) in a sectional semifinal. [It appears that they are co-oped with Mabel-Canton HS for the 2nd year.] They return at least thier top 4 scorers in sr @EmersonIngvals1 (5'6"--7.7ppg), & jrs @ksoiney23 (5'10"--15.0ppg), @SiriKonkel (5'3"--13.5ppg), & @KylieHammel (5'10"--9.1ppg). They will once again be in Section 1 with Goodhue (see above). Young Guns Team: Mountain Iron-Buhl (@MIBBASKETBALL ) Mountain Iron-Buhl (29-4, #3) finished as state runner-up after falling 70-65 to Goodhue (28-5, #1). They graduate 4 starters, all of whom are playing college basketball, including @uncwbb player @jordanzubich & @jimmie_wbb player @HaliSavela . But they return a number of players that played significant roles last year as underclassmen, including jr @thomas2aniyah (5'4"--5.5ppg), sophs @annaneyens27 (5'6"--10.1ppg) & @SamiWarwas (5'8"--3.3ppg), & fr Izzy Wiita (5'7"--3.2ppg).
