If you're looking to expand the marks you're making, I have brush packs full of the brushes I use to make the vast majority of my art (for PS5 and up) 😀
Get 'em in the comments:
Artists, show me your most popular piece!
It might be the Chaos God icons, but that's really a set of 4. For any one single piece, somewhat surprisingly to me it's this portrait of a Macharian Vigilite from 40k: Imperium Maledictum -
@HonaCostello
Wow, dude 😆
You're embarrassing yourself mightily with this one.
Be a shame to miss a change to push my art, though (almost all of which has been printed in books that have been shipped around the world, so, y'know, totally not a physical thing):
My last painting of the year, and it's a curveball in a wildly different style from usual 😃

HOT FRESH NEW ART, this time the cover illustration for the upcoming Inheritance of Embers, for the 40k ttrpg Wrath & Glory!
Can't wait to show you the other pieces I've got in here, too, but that's for next week 😃
#PortfolioDay
!
Let's get in at the beginning of the day here in Germany - I'm Sam, illustrator on the tabletop roleplaying games Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay, 40k Wrath & Glory and Age of Sigmar Soulbound. Lovely to meet you all!
Here's a slice of what I do, starting with covers:
OK now this is very very cool - insta user johnny_ks_wong (go give him a follow!) painted this incredible Ahriman and put a splitting-Horror image on the cloak, which he says is inspired by my Tzeentch icon for WFRP:
Very sad to hear of the passing of illustrator Russ Nicholson. Rest in peace, sir.
If you're not familiar, it's very much worthwhile taking a look through his work and appreciating the skills on display.
@flinkart
Good grief. Paying to be spoon-fed access to stolen art mashups.
And... among all the other more immediate arguments, there's something so hollow about not taking the journey of learning, discovering, growing, and finding your own creative voice.
Another piece from CHURCH OF STEEL for the 40k ttrpg Wrath & Glory, but slightly different this time as we have a cutaway showing the interior of an Astra Militarum Taurox:
Aww we're going back to LUSTRIA with fresh hot new art for the upcoming Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay book - this is 'T’latl the Enigma – Coatl Patron or Nemesis'
Oh my goodness I've been sitting on this for a while. The Elector Counts card game has just been announced, and I can now show the box cover I painted for it:
Ooh,
#PortfolioDay
again!
I'm Sam, commission artist and illustrator on the ttrpgs Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay, 40k Wrath & Glory, and Age of Sigmar: Soulbound.
A private commission! This was for the cover of a custom AGE OF SIGMAR battletome, the GNOMAD FEASTMASTERS!
It was really fun depicting halflings in a much more serious way than WFRP normally has them 😃
Disgusting hot new Nurgle artwork just had NDAs lifted!
Let's start with Platform, which was the cover for the 40k Wrath & Glory adventure Lord of the Spire:

Radioactively bad take.
2003, age 17, after a *year* of solid study, vs 2021 (although printed in 2022), not stopping drawing/painting/learning since 2002.
"People who are artists were born with that talent."
Unless... I'm not an artist. Maybe!
Oh dang, it's

!
Hi everyone, I'm Sam, illustrator largely working on the Games Workshop tabletop roleplaying games Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay, Age of Sigmar: Soulbound, 40k: Wrath & Glory and 40: Imperium Maledictum. This is what I do:
Covers:
HOT FRESH NEW ART! And an unusual one, too - Banshee Shrine, for Inheritance of Embers. Now, this is not something that has had many depictions before, so there was some designing to be done!
Midjourney developers caught discussing laundering, and creating a database of Artists (who have been dehumanized to styles) to train Midjourney off of. This has been submitted into evidence for the lawsuit. Prompt engineers, your “skills” are not yours
+++ KHORNE, NURGLE, SLAANESH, TZEENTCH ICONS +++
First seen in Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay's The Enemy Within and reappearing in 40k Wrath & Glory's Forsaken System.
Good heavens I was thrilled when I was asked to design these.
Alright, let's go for a big thread. PORTRAITS OF WARHAMMER FANTASY ROLEPLAY. I'll add to it through the day 🎨
Lots of tiny paintings, starting off with these (uncommonly in colour) pair from the Starter Set:
Wild. I've really been quite shocked over the last few months to discover a kind of person who really, truly hates 'artistic types'. Like... what prestige is this? We mostly do long hours for low pay, and often struggle to get by.
What is making this type of person so upset?!
@HonaCostello
Not cool to be down on plumbers - everyone's needed to call the plumbers at some point. Kind of an important job.
Here's more of my art, though (again, all printed in books, shipped across the world):
It's been some time since I shared the Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay GM screen.
It's worth opening up and zooming in on this - there are lots of little stories playing out, and the 6 WFRP iconic characters are all hidden somewhere in the painting 😀
Another FRESH NEW painting appearing in the Empire in Ruins Companion for Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay, this character piece is an Empire handgunner!
I am really rather glad the tyranny of cropping longer images is over 😃
The PRIEST OF MANANN appears to tell us that we haven't finished being out on the SEA OF CLAWS just yet!
Another piece from the SoC book for Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay.
Well now, that's a lot of new followers in the last couple of days! Lovely to meet you all, and hello again to the regulars 🙂
I post pretty regularly - new art as often as I can, and quite a few reposts 'cause social media moves ferociously quickly.
Have a great day!
We're back on the high seas for more SEA OF CLAWS work for Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay! Let's take a look at the new character career art that I was tasked with, starting with the Ship's Gunner:
