Manchester, you have my heart. I GOT MY SUB 4 - 3:55, a 12 minute PB. I’m one big emotional wreck right now…I’ve chased this for so long! 🥹

@Marathon_Mcr
Running in broad daylight & a random man forcefully shoves me over. Please tell me again how I should modify my behaviour as a woman to ‘stay safe’. I’m fine - but I wonder who this man goes home to & if they are. Do better.
Didn’t go to plan today - collapsed at mile 13 & was looked after by people who gave up their race for me (so humbling) & lovely medics. Cried lots, decided to carry on after 15 min & the UNBELIEVABLE crowd got me round. You’re world class. Thank you London. 4.28 & 4.16 for Dave.
Tonight on a dimly lit section of my run a young lad around 15-16 stopped, stepped into a driveway, pulled his hood down and replied with "sorry, didn't want to scare you" when I said thanks. Wish I knew his mum/dad - that's how you raise good kids. Made my day.
I have a 2 hour zoom meeting this afternoon. The kids are playing "count the correct number of bricks on the garage & win £5"
I haven't a clue what the answer is, but I do know it's going to take them MANY, MANY attempts...😉

I crossed over the road 9 times on my run this morning (often onto a side with oncoming traffic), which is no problem; I'm out for some exercise after all! But not one nod, smile, thanks - I don't need it, but manners cost nothing. It's not a battle! 😚

#socialdistancing
As I was running (alone) I came to a group of 8 adults with lots of kids - not socially distanced in any way - outside costa, taking up the WHOLE path. I moved into the road. One woman tutted 'these runners'. There's only one of us breaking covid rules here love & it's not me! 👀
I lost my dad in 2016 & I genuinely couldn’t run a mile. We’d watch
@LondonMarathon
each year baffled why anyone would choose to run that far. In 2017, I ran my first half in 2.19. I was ECSTATIC. Today I finished in 1.46 & I’m running London in 4 weeks. Look what you did Pete ❤️
Chester Marathon - 4.07, 13 minute PB, 22 degrees and sunburnt in OCTOBER! Those were the longest, hottest final 8 miles of my life. Get this girl a calippo!
@chestermarathon
Thank you
@stjohnambulance
for the care you showed me on Sunday at the London Marathon. I’d love to pass my thanks on again to these 3 who gave me a final push to the finish line, and more importantly, helped me believe I could ACTUALLY finish when it felt easier to drop out! 👏
I've already missed the funeral of one Grandparent because of the Covid-19 situation & don't wish to miss any more. I'm a runner, I love running, but if my only option was this I'd be benching myself until I had better options. Think of yourself & others!
#COVIDIOTS
Well
@Marathon_Mcr
, you're some event! I went out to enjoy it rather than chase a time as only one of us is in PB shape and it certainly isn't me 🤣 High fived as many kids as I could, had a blast & came in at 4.35. Dave nailed a PB at 3.57.. smiles all round!
#ManchesterMarathon
To everyone running London tomorrow - we’ve got this. Thanks for all the support! I still can’t believe I’m lucky enough to be here. I’m nervous, excited & everything in between. Feel free to track me & send virtual ‘get a move on’ vibes. LET’S GO

5k in the beautiful Kos...I am going to roll out this sunrise photo the next time someone asks me why I'd go running on holiday....(plus, have you seen how much I eat on my jollies?!) 🥰 🇬🇷☀️

Thank you! The sad thing is that all the times I have ran at times of the day deemed more “dangerous” (very early mornings, dark nights), I’ve never had a problem. It goes to show sometimes it’s just a case of wrong place, wrong time.
First run post-covid was utterly horrific for all involved; not least my husband who had to endure my dramatics the entire way round 🥵 Ran a marathon 3 weeks ago, got covid, now feel like I've never ran before in my life. Where's the justice?!
#arewethereyet
We’ve had some really sad news in our family recently, so today was about enjoyment rather than time. I high fived so many kids, stroked every labrador I saw, facetimed my girls & still came away with my 3rd fastest half (1.46, 1.52 & 1.52 again today). Running never fails ❤️
Thank you so much for the incredible response to my tweet yesterday - too many to reply to personally (I wish I had time!) but I really am so grateful. London Marathon 2023, over £3500 raised for
@MindCharity
& crowds like no other. Thank you - well done everyone!
#LondonMarathon
On my run today, a lovely chap on his bike rang his bell a few times, gave a super cheery “good morning, on your right!” & it just put me in such a good mood for the whole run. Considerate & friendly…whilst sometimes we focus on those who ruin our runs, this gent made mine!
Hate the sly comments every year from people mocking January gym newbies. Good on them for signing up. So what if they all tail off in a few weeks/months anyway?! Going year-round doesn't make you superior....just further along the journey.
I tuck my ponytail into a bobble hat when it's dark. Run wide past alleyways. Look people in the eye so they know I've seen what they look like. Tell myself I've got a black belt, so I've done all I can to stay safe. My husband just goes running. So angry about

My 4th road marathon tomorrow & 8th in total. The buzz of marathon weekend is what brings me back every time....there is something truly addictive about it. Good luck

Last night, the hospital that failed my dad so badly looked after my daughter IMPECCABLY. I have nothing but praise for every single person who cared her last night. We think she had a massive seizure & query skull fracture but she is ok. My nerves are shot but she’s smiling! ❤️
Daughter arrives home from school - feeds the dog. Husband comes home (daughter in the shower), feeds the dog. I come home, husband gone to football, daughter facetiming mates....I feed the dog. The dog regrets NOTHING. He's waited 18 months for this opportunity. Well played.
The happiest

🤩
Sat: I’ll take sub 1:50 as an absolute dream (but don’t tell anyone as I’ve only ever ran sub 1:55 once in 18 HM races…)
Sun: 1:46 at Wilmslow Half
Mon: Enters
@Great_Run
Manchester - SUB 1:45 I’M COMING FOR YOU! 🤟🏼

You'd think after Manchester marathon and a week of skiing I'd be pretty much at peak fitness. Nope. I slugged my way around 4 miles like I'd forgotten how to run. Where is the justice?! 🤣
My mum's cancer hasn't spread beyond her bowel, the doctors feel she doesn't need chemo & there's a 90% chance it shouldn't reoccur. This has been one rough 6 months, feel like I've engaged autopilot throughout & can't quite believe this news!! 🌟

Food shortages? Panic buying? Genuinely the most chilled Christmas shop I've ever done! Don't believe the hype. Onwards to Tesco - don't let me down now....

18 miles this morning - 15 miles first thing then parkrun. 1 mile laps until the final half hour (when it got light) as I couldn't bring myself to accept such a distance at 5.30am! 👀

Caught covid on day 10 of my daughter's isolation. 6 days in & a 'mild cold' I'm fully vaxxed against has sent me from running a marathon two weeks ago to taking a break walking up the stairs....did not expect that at all. It's rough.
Never have I seen a race with such support! I stopped 3 miles in feeling absolutely dreadful, cried a lot & never felt much better. Crowds were unreal. NEVER underestimate the healing power of kiddies handing you calippos & rocket lollies! Fact.

2:11:52 absolutely outrageous! New WR in Berlin - listen to the commentator when she gets it 🥹 Tigist Assefa you deserve all the glory!

I like how Jacinda Ardern puts it:
"If we focus only on being seen to be the strongest, most powerful person in the room, then I think we lose what we’re meant to be here for. So I’m proudly focused on empathy, because you can be both empathetic and strong."
Our marriage survived marathon training 😂 I had to let him go at 12 miles cos knew I wasn't right...the next 14 were a real mental challenge. I finished in 4.25, Dave in 4.20; his time 6 seconds different to mine last year. Couldn't make it up!

The injustice of the marathon is that you should be gifted the best nights sleep of your life…but the pain and heaviness your legs means it’s one of the worst. I don’t think I’ve ever ached so much - who am I kidding - I HAVE NEVER ACHED SO MUCH! But WE DID IT! 💪
@Marathon_Mcr
Plan said 18 miles easy, so 18 miles easy we did. Felt great, which is probably the gods paying me back for some pretty tiring midweek runs after work & a stonker of a fall. Manchester week 6 - done & dusted 👍
#marathontraining
23 miles - past my house three times, up & down the nemesis hill three times…..almost 100 miles over the past two weeks on top of working full time & two super busy girls - it’s not easy at times but it’s worth it (when it’s done! 😂)
#marathontraining
@chestermarathon
Every year on
@LondonMarathon
results day, my husband and I text our rejection emails, both knowing the day one of us gets in and the other doesn't, our marriage is over. After today's rejections it seems we live to see another year!
Well there we go - training complete! 15 weeks, 65 runs, 482 miles - and a lot of 5am starts to fit it all in before work. Almost there!
#chestermarathon
Trust me when I say, I love running. Today however, I absolutely hated every single one of those 21 miles! I felt sick for the majority & the desperation powerade I stopped off for is going to give me nightmares! 😂🤢 BUT IT’S DONE!
#marathontraining
It’s sad we live in a society where strangers find it acceptable to make flippant comments to children about food intake and weight. ‘Do you know how many calories are in that?! Wish I could have that (you could….)’ has triggered me way more than it should, but it’s not on.
Chester Marathon - what a scorcher. Well done to everyone who ran (I don’t think any of us expected that heat, or the hills which despite running this 4 times still surprised me!) and a huge thank you to everyone who came out to support!

Thanks for all the lovely messages since
@Marathon_Mcr
on Sunday, the support both on the day & since has been incredible. We had the best day - 3:57 to 3:45 for
@run_with_dave
& 4:35 to 3:55 for me. Happy faces all round - there’s something special about 26.2!
#manchestermarathon
Worst conditions I've ever ran in, just didn't let up. Final 5 were run/walk as I was soaking, freezing & tired - zero enjoyment, bloody awful! 🌧🌧🌧💨

20 miler time & there are ABSOLUTE SCENES this morning as we’re running one loop the other way round. We’re a bit bored of the same route. I know - we are wild 😂

I dread this weekend every year. I remember this date vividly for the words ‘weeks at best’ followed by what I knew would be our last Father’s Day a few days later. Up & out early for a peaceful 10 miles this morning, it’s definitely made me feel brighter. Onwards ❤️
HE DID IT!! 3.57 🙌 There is nothing better than seeing someone go after something & get it.
Dave ran for
@MindCharity
- we lost our beautiful neighbour Imogen in February & we ran today with her in our hearts ❤

A good day at the office! 4.01 for Dave which is a MASSIVE 20 mins off his PB, so proud of him 🤩 4.30 for me which is 10 mins over my PB (balance 😉) but I'll take that considering my training fell off a cliff towards the end 🤣 Now I may retire!

Oooooo, results are in & 2nd fastest parkrun this morning it appears (out of 42 I've done) - that'll do me. Cake for the win always.

My garmin seems to approve of hot weather training ☀️🌡23 miles ran over the past week, maybe I should stay here 🤣🇬🇷 Happy with that, didn't expect to run each morning but those sunrises had me hooked.

In the past 3 years I've ran 3500 miles inc 6 marathons & 18 halfs - all inspired by my amazing dad. Before he died I did absolutely nothing. It doesn't come naturally - I used to walk 1500m at school - but it's amazing what you can do for an important cause!
