How can a “climate candidate” be pro-fracking? Its frustrating that so many in the climate movement won’t admit that? It is true that she’s better than him on every climate issue but that, to me, is not the same as being a “climate candidate”. We don’t have a climate candidate.

Gentle reminder that this is the type of disaster where the damage is much worse than what you’re seeing on your feed. Cell service is still down in many places, many communities are cut off, etc. It’ll take time for the full impacts and scope to be understood.

Fiona is the latest reminder that storm category does not tell you what the damage will be -- it's the geography & vulnerabilities of the communities. Also, that when communities are kept from the resources needed to rebuild *quickly* they are more vulnerable to the next hazard.

It continues to be so jarring to hear the administration cheerfully repeat "when I think about climate change, I think about jobs" when people are literally running from fires & floods & then sleeping in tents while they wait for recovery assistance (which isn't coming, tbh).

Sorry that I only post about thanksgiving now but every person I’ve talked to who does disaster/ emergency management related work is absolutely losing their minds right now about how many people don’t seem to be canceling their plans.

Remember last year when Germany flooded and the response from western media was largely, "Wow. Climate Change has arrived". Please don't do that again with London. Climate change has been here... This isn't a warning, it's just the latest in a series of the main event.

The Venn diagram of men who think the human species needs to move to space and men who think we are incapable of doing basic hazard mitigation to minimize the impacts of climate change is a circle.

You're going to see videos from Yellowstone and I need y'all to be chill about it (bc historically you've not been chill). Per the USGS a "small hydrothermal explosion occurred in Yellowstone National Park in the Biscuit Basin thermal area". They are "relatively common" there.

All the climate scientists really have the threads under control today so I’m just going to support by contributing memes.

It's actually illegal to tweet about anything other than the IPCC report today.
