More than 11,000 locations have been restored since Beryl devastated our area. Approximately 500 linemen, contractors and vegetation management crews are working across our area. Many more are arriving today and will be deployed to work immediately.
Crews have restored 6,000 members this afternoon, for a total of 31,000 members since Hurricane Beryl hit southeast Texas. More than 1,000 line technicians and tree clearing crews are working across the system’s 7,000 miles of line to restore the remaining outages.
Sam Houston EC’s line technicians, tree trimming crews and others have restored over 90% of members affected by Hurricane Beryl and are continuing the restoration efforts this morning. If you are on the roads today, we encourage you to drive carefully and watch for crews at work.
Sam Houston EC’s line technicians, tree trimming crews and others restored an additional 12,600 consumer-members today for a total of 75,000 members restored following Hurricane Beryl.

More than 1,000 line technicians and tree clearing crews continue to make progress through the Piney Woods of East Texas. Crews have now restored 45,500 locations and continue to work across the region.
Sam Houston EC’s 1,000 line technicians, tree trimming crews and others restored 24,000 members today, for a total of 43,000 members restored following Hurricane Beryl. This is more than half of the members who were affected by the hurricane.
An additional 5,000 members have been restored this afternoon for a total of 16,000 restored since Hurricane Beryl hit our system. More than 500 line technicians and vegetation management crews continue to work to clear the damage caused by the hurricane.
Sam Houston EC crews have restored 5,000 locations today, bringing the total members restored to 66,500. Over 1,000 line technicians and tree trimming crews continue to work at this time on the remaining outages. Our team will update the restoration estimates later this evening.
Sam Houston EC has been advised of a rumor that power will be shut off in San Jacinto County tonight. There are no plans to turn off power to any area, but please note that new outages can occur if a tree falls or a fault occurs on a line, but we are not planning to turn it off.
Sam Houston EC’s 1,000 line technicians, tree trimming crews and others restored 18,000 members so far today, for a total of 61,000 members restored following Hurricane Beryl. This is more than three-quarters of the members who were affected by the hurricane.

As Beryl clears the northeast corner of Sam Houston EC's service area, it has left over 76,000 of our members without power.
Sam Houston EC crews along with more than 200 contractors are making repairs as quickly and safely as possible.
7 p.m. Update: Sam Houston Electric Cooperative’s system sustained severe damage as Beryl moved across with damaging wind and storms. We serve 91,000 meters, and more than 81,500 were without service at the peak today. Crews have restored 5,500 meters so far and continue to work.
Sam Houston EC’s 1,030 line technicians, tree trimming crews and others restored an additional 1,000 consumer-members after last night’s update for a total of 62,400 members restored following Hurricane Beryl.
More than 500 linemen and vegetation management crews are working across the system, and 500 additional contractors will join the efforts tomorrow. This video shows some of the extensive damage they are encountering.
Crews have restored service to more than 8,000 locations. With the significant damage, 200 more contractors are on their way to help restore service safely and efficiently.
Line technicians, contractors and mutual aid crews continue to work across our system to restore the remaining 150 members without service following Hurricane Beryl. Please watch for workers and their vehicles in your area so they can continue to work safely.
Please note that you may not see crews in your immediate area, but restoration work does not necessarily follow roads, or they may be clearing another issue between your home and our substation that is preventing the flow of electricity.

Sam Houston EC is monitoring Hurricane Beryl and preparing for the storm’s movement across Texas. We encourage our consumer-members to check their storm preparations, just as our employees are checking our system.
Herman Allen is an electrical technician with the Co-op. He served four years in the U.S. Navy. Allen notes the bond service members share, and he sees a similar bond among Co-op employees.

We are thankful for the many crews who are restoring electricity. There are others who have worked behind the scenes keeping crews safe such as our system operators, support staff, mechanics and crew leaders. Others are answering calls and sharing information with our membership.
Due to the scale of the damage, we are unable to project estimated times of restoration with accuracy, so this function on our outage map has been temporarily turned off. As soon as we are able to predict estimated times of restoration, we will restore that function.

We have heard our members’ request for estimated times of restoration. We appreciate your patience and have the following updates for our service area. These estimates are for when we expect to restore approximately 90% of customers in the area who can safely receive it.
Line Technician Yancy Williams has served our country since 1986 when he enlisted in the Marine Corps. He was honorably discharged and enlisted in the Army Reserves in 1993. Williams notes the military is one big family and so is Sam Houston EC.

Our crews are ready to respond, should we experience any power interruptions.
The damage to our system is significant. 7 of 38 substations do not have transmission, but all substations are intact. From the substations, feeders are the main lines that distribute power to communities. 67 of 123 feeders were down entirely and many others were severely damaged
There is serious damage across our area, especially in the southern half of our service territory. Fallen trees, broken poles and crossarms, as well as down power lines. Stay away from down lines, and follow local emergency officials for information.

Chip Adair served nine years in the Air Force, and deployed to support Operations Desert Shield/Desert Storm. "Getting to work around top of the line (equipment) is fun, even if you couldn't tell anyone," Adair said. He is a system analyst in the our IT department.
