Speak to your local MSP. It’s gone too far.
This is one reason why Björk and others are protesting in Iceland.
Farmed salmon escaped a feedlot and have been infecting local rivers.
Here are 2 of 24 fish caught last week, heads eaten by lice.
This has been happening in Scotland for decades.
@scotgov
enables it.
Thousands upon thousands of dead farmed salmon being vacuumed up into Billy Bowie tankers.
This isn’t food production. This is industrial waste disposal.
These fish have been fed on globally sourced wild fish. It’s beyond repulsive.

“Birds are also victims of salmon farming”
These are the “well paid jobs for rural communities” : shovelling lice-ridden, diseased dead salmon and killing wild birds.
There is nothing good about this industry.
@rspcaassured
stamp it “welfare assured”.
Thanks to

The

sector is ready to invest and create jobs. At a time when growth is flatlining we need to ensure that Scotland is open for business.
"Mowi’s licence for a €9m salmon farm in Co. Cork has been overturned by the High Court, following a legal challenge involving anglers, environmentalists and Inland Fisheries Ireland":
More farmed salmon in one cage than all the wild salmon left in Scottish west coast rivers.
Lice & disease are running amok.
Is it any wonder why wild salmon are disappearing? And this is just one of their problems 🤬
This is another Mowi feedlot, in Loch Sunart. It suffered a near 100% mortality event. Only a few large fish left.
Look at the location. How are resident and migratory fish meant to cope with lice and disease emanating from this toxic barrier?
This used to be a wonderful place.
Today
@1edmountain
put the appalling facts of salmon farming across to
@MairiGougeon
& was told it was “nonsense”
36,000tonnes of dead fish✅
25% of all salmon die✅
168x increase in antibiotics✅
REC recommendations ignored✅
How can anything be solved if facts are dismissed?
Welcome to Scotland. We’ve got millions & millions & millions of DEAD SALMON!
Gross stats uncovered by award winning Canadian environmental journalist:
Translated: “Strong warning from a salmon researcher: - It is likely that wild salmon & sea trout will disappear completely
The use of open breeding cages in the sea will probably destroy all wild salmon & sea trout in Norway, warns salmon researcher”
Approximately 150 tonnes of dead salmon.
Last year 17 THOUSAND tonnes died.
3-5kg of WILD fish are needed to grow 1kg of these fish.

There is never-ending footage of mass cruelty on salmon farms and a carefully orchestrated “omertà” by

to avoid witnessing it.
They’ve had 50yrs to sort it out and it’s getting worse.
Now they’re creating huge unemployment problems.
Their time is up.

What part of 25% mortalities, killing wild fish, birds and other wildlife is “sustainable”??

Meanwhile our Scottish government goon
@FergusEwingMSP
is actively promoting it!

When will

wake up and realise salmon farming is killing wildlife and threatening the future of Scotland?

Tonnes of dead fish “routine”? What kind of “vet” are we dealing with here?

Ever wonder why wild salmon smolts are disappearing?
They are attracted to underwater feedlot lighting, get through the nets and end up in the hydrolicer.
Same as herring, sprats, mackerel etc.
Please stop this industry. It’s killing the sea.
@MairiGougeon
@MairiMcAllan
Mowi confirm salmon escape event.
50yrs of farming salmon in the sea and they still can’t contain them safely.
Because there is no safe way to farm salmon in the sea.
A fish that salmon farmers could only dream about.
Full fins, full tail, no gill or skin disease, no cataract, no lice infestation etc
A salmon like this this is impossible to grow in a sea cage the way they are at the moment. Why?
Because the industry is ROTTEN TO THE CORE!
NEWS: All salmon fishing in the sea and in 33 rivers of Norway to cease.
“Salmon lice, escaped farmed salmon, and infections related to salmon farming are the greatest anthropogenic threats to Norwegian wild salmon.”

After losing 86.8% at Culnacnoc feedlot, Organic Sea Harvest and their director, (local SNP councillor
@iasgairmuir
) should be banned from keeping salmon in cages.
How is it that images of salmon eaten alive by sea lice don’t trigger a national public outcry to rid our seas of toxic farmed salmon?
-Because the industry has captured government to protect and defend itself at ALL costs!
Salmon escape in Ireland estimated 30,000 fish.
“This major escape will have a devastating impact on the Erriff & Delphi rivers flowing into Killary Harbour & other nearby rivers such as Kylemore river, Clifden river, Culfin river & Ballynahinch river”
Hundreds of farmed salmon escape from a “cutting edge tech” Norwegian boat in Iceland after a pipe bursts
If you allow salmon farming in the sea, you are allowing the destruction of iconic native species
Shame on any politician allowing this, anywhere.
Imagine a swift, having just flown thousands of miles to feed, suddenly encountering swarms of airborne lice, avian flu and other exotic diseases from a nearby industrial ‘swift farm’, on re-arrival in the UK to find a mate.
This is a reality for wild Atlantic salmon.
Escaped farmed salmon in Ireland are now entering the river Erriff and the Delphi.
Pictures below of the tail and dorsal fin of an escapee show the poor health of these farmed salmon.
These fish are carrying disease, straight into the territory of endangered wild fish.
This river used to have a plentiful stock of salmon and sea trout. The riparian habitat is 1st class.
The only negative here in 40yrs is the arrival of the 1st salmon farms in Scotland, many polluted themselves out but many still remain.
No salmon return.
No voice.
No chance.
MOWI want to extract 15hectares of peat near their Kyleakin feed plant,and create massive concrete tanks in which to grind up dead salmon.
Is this all part of the Scottish “Blue Recovery”
@MairiMcAllan
?
Mowi says sea lice “modelling” is flawed and there is no cause for concern over lice numbers.
Meanwhile all operators in Scotland are systematically failing to meet even their own guidelines.
Salmon “lies” are at an all time high.
One of the 73,600 escaped Colonsay salmon caught on river Oich on Friday.
The wild Scottish salmon gene pool is seriously under threat from these Norwegian strains and it appears NOTHING is being done.
It’s absolutely shameful.

@Torcuil
aware of the truth behind the 💩 they’re promoting?
17.4 MILLION salmon died in cages last year, fed on globally sourced wild fish and other ingredients.
And how much really ends up on the plates of humans and how much into pet food?
“Dark Seas – the muddy truth behind farmed fish”.
If the last fish you ate was a carnivorous species, such as salmon, sea bass, or sea bream, it’s probably starving West African families of their traditional diet and destroying centuries-old livelihoods.
Iceland:
Over 12% of the entire population have signed a petition calling for the end to open-cage salmon farming - delivered to the Speaker of the House, the Minister of Food, Agriculture, and Fisheries & the Chairman of the Industrial Affairs Committee
Beautiful view from near Clach Na Criche Wishing Stone over to Mull today….ruined by the stinking industrial process of vacuuming thousands of lice covered diseased feedlot salmon into a big diesel “fish carrier” while a landing craft stood by for the dead fish.
Some of the wild Atlantic salmon being caught in UK rivers right now are spectacular. And a relative miracle, given their migratory pressures.
Compare these with the disfigured, stressed-out, bloated frankenfish grown in tanks.
Salmon farming is an affront to nature.
Norwegian salmon tax pushes land farming to Scotland. 224 tanks holding migratory fish that will have their highly evolved sensory networks nullified by concrete and will never see the sky.
Also, “400 jobs” is a lie.
There is no doubt that if open feedlots were removed from Scottish waters, wild salmon numbers would increase.
So, why are they there?
Jobs and a “gross value added” vanity project. 0.31% of Scotland’s GDP.
It is confirmed that the Norwegian salmon farming industry emits 100tonnes of microplastics - more than the nations entire microplastics emissions from laundry washing.
