Chair of Electoral Commission worried. No guarantee elections in 2026 or even 2027 will take place. Undemocratic & abhorrent decision. Trust already low.

I’m certainly not suggesting we ignore what’s happening in the US, but I do genuinely worry about my own country & where it’s heading. The obsessive over reporting of Trump has to be moderated. It’s coming across as being a distraction when there are some serious shortcomings.

@Mancman10 @FullFact Unless you’re in govt, you cannot know. Even councillors don’t know if they will take place and there are strong suggestions they can postpone until 2028. A huge waste of money is electing powerful unaccountable mayors. And Lab only has majority because of broken voting system.

Given the recent events in the US, it’s easy to become distracted by happenings over there. However, we must remain vigilant in our own country right now, as Labour may be on the verge of undermining our democratic right to vote in the upcoming local elections in May. 😢
