Instead of establishing an efficient system of public free schools, the #txlege has established an inefficient system for funding public schools. This overly complicated system puts the funding burden on localities instead of where it belongs: on the Texas Legislature.

TX needs new bureaucracy like it needs a hole in the head. Why the far-right wing of the GOP wants to make a whole new program complete w/ bureaucrats, office space, & administrative costs, is beyond me. Unless… it’s all about the money ➡️ campaign contributions ➡️ reelection.
Question on vouchers for those who know. Once you get a voucher, would it automatically renew each year, or do you have to go through the lottery again?

Will they be tortured, too? I’m sure new administration has a few Sadists lurking about, salivating at the prospect.
WSJ: The first two flights carrying detained migrants from the U.S. to Guantanamo Bay have headed to the naval base in Cuba, as the Trump administration begins to expand a small migrant-detention center there. One flight from Fort Bliss to Guantanamo has roughly a dozen migrants on board, people familiar with the matter said. An additional flight left the U.S. on Monday, one of the people said.

@GovAbbott , a majority of Texans do not want public dollars going to private schools. How do I know? Because you won’t let us vote on it.
I’m declaring school choice an Emergency Item that MUST be passed this session. More than 30 states already have a form of school choice—and the majority of Texans support school choice. #TXSOTS25 #txlege

@kenmartin73 To win more elections, I recommend that the party fully embrace the legalization of the recreational use of marijuana & the implementation of a logical, reasonable regulatory framework. I deserve to have the same rights & responsibilities as people who like to drink alcohol.

Elon’s new “Department” is not a Department, and we should not call it a Department. Calling it a Department, when it is not a Department, is akin to impersonating an officer.
Answering the most common question about the Deferred Resignation offer. Can take the vacation you always wanted, or just watch movies and chill, while receiving your full government pay and benefits.

@MomsAGAbbott Does anyone know who manages the money in the Rainy Day Fund? What % management fee do they make? What’s the asset allocation? What investments are allowed & not allowed? We deserve transparency on this topic, but I was unable to find anything.

And there it is: the scrape. A nice, fat 3% cut of whatever $$ are put into this private school voucher plan. 3% x X $Billion— every year, from here to eternity. It is every capitalist’s DREAM to get a secured revenue stream like this. Please, Texas, don’t let this happen.
Read SB 2 carefully! It creates a new bureaucracy - aka: Vendors - to manage the Voucher money! Thus, less $$ for vouchers but profits for the EAOs. Bad for Texas! @rab_ag @JaimeBoswell2 @CoxHerb @pastors4txkids @drext727 @evan7257

@Radle @MarijuanaMoment @realDonaldTrump @RobertKennedyJr @PamBondi I agree, it’s absolutely maddening how we’re just supposed to accept this blatant hypocrisy. It’s Orwellian doublespeak: 2+2=5 and pot is kept on schedule I. It’s no wonder that people tune out of politics when the government is this ridiculous.

@mearmstrong77 @sbellsnyder You’re right, the #txlege could have provided adequate funding while trying to pass ESAs, but they haven’t raised the basic allotment per student since 2019, holding it hostage until they get ESAs passed. Btw, funding is based on attendance, not enrollment.

@mearmstrong77 @sbellsnyder The Texas Constitution requires that the legislature provide adequate funding for a system of free, public schools. If you don’t like it, change the constitution. Supporting public education is normal and conservative. Making me pay for your private schools is neither.

@Meritous72 @jmontforttx It would be nice if all state driver license cards included a field for Nationality. Imagine if we did: Voting clerks could easily see if a noncitizen tried to vote, and employers could see who needs to also provide a green card to get a job.
