Such heart-breaking scenes at the Tour de Suisse today. I hope that everybody gets the time they need to process this.
The cycling community is relatively small and this news will no doubt touch everyone. It's just so terribly sad.

It would have been nice to see Romain Bardet make it to Paris in the men's race, but it is nice to see him on the podium at the start of the women's race. Also, this picture of his kid and Lotte Kopecky is just everything.

The ripping apart of GCN has been so sad to see. Cycling had something so good in its app and website and now it's gone. Cycling is already lesser because of it.
A picture from the moto today that ultimately blocked the race. The photog moto has been banned for tomorrow and so has the TV bike that was with it.

THAT image from close range... brilliant shot.
The Grubers and Pauline Ballet's shots on Instagram this morning are simply breathtaking

What a phenomenal day for Belgium! 🇧🇪 TT gold and bronze for Remco & Wout. And by the way: cyclocross will be an Olympic Sport at the Winter Games 2030! 💪🥳
Remco Evenepoel says he hasn't had any messages from friends and family yet as he doesn't have wifi and the roaming is "quite expensive".

So, I have some pretty big personal news to share. I am going to leave Velo at the end of this year, and I will also be putting a pause on my journalism career. In January, I am joining GreenEdge Cycling (Jayco-AlUla & Liv AlUla Jayco) and their media team.
Pascal Eenkhoorn said he told Jasper Philipsen "if I want to race I can race, and if you want to pull you can pull" when the Belgian remonstrated with him about his attack.

Tadej Pogacar after losing time to Jonas Vingegaard today. "It’s definitely not over, especially if it is raining tomorrow and then I can promise you it’s going to be interesting."

As it is Gent-Wevelgem today, I wanted to take a moment to remember Richard Moore. This was the last race he covered. I stood in the mixed zone with him for over an hour watching the women's race. I expected to see him again at Flanders, but that was the last time I saw him.
On the eve of his last ever Tour de France, we’re excited to announce new documentary MARK CAVENDISH: NEVER ENOUGH.
The film charts the rise, fall and resurrection of a genuine sporting great as he attempts to prove the doubters wrong and make cycling history. Coming 2 August.
Etymology fun fact: The name Pogačar comes from the word “pogača” which is derived from Latin focacea, focacia, which means “cooked bread” and is the root for the Italian word “focaccia” in the sense that we know it.
His name is, quite literally, Tadej Focaccia

I think GCN may have different ideas about the Evenepoel and Pogačar rivalry. This poster looks like it could be for some cycling-based. Netflix rom com.
I'd love to know what the plot is, here.
With Tom Dumoulin's retirement announcement yesterday, I just wanted to post this picture again. It's one of my favourites from the Giro d'Italia. Victory is so much more than individual success.

I feel the need to share this from an interview I did recently with Elisa Longo Borghini as we spoke about what people do to Italian food.
"I’ve seen people putting salad into a risotto. I think this is the worst. After that, I don’t know what there is. Probably only death."
According to the UCI, Junlien Bernard's behaviour damaged the image of cycling.
I have honestly not seen anything less likely to damage the image of cycling. Wow.
Couldn't have asked for a better person to lead the coverage of the Tour de Suisse under these circumstances than Rob Hatch. Perfectly measured by him. 💔💔
Primož Roglič's son doing the telemark landing is just adorable.
I also love that Roglič does this podium celebration no matter what. I like to think that he does it in regular life.
Pays at the supermarket checkout, telemark, finishes a training ride, telemark...
Alison Jackson on riding the Tourmalet tomorrow:
"I’m going to take whatever hand-ups the fans want to give me. Cookies, hamburgers, a chicken wing."

I hear that Fred Wright will not speak with reporters at the finish today, but Bahrain-Victorious is going to release a statement responding to the Jumbo-Visma comments later.

I could honestly cry, this is absolutely incredible. We're getting more daily readers than the men's Giro d'Italia got. The Tour de France Femmes is not just big for a women's race, it's a big race.
#TDFF
Here at VeloNews, we are averaging more readers per-day this week than we were during all of May when the men's Giro d'Italia was on. That's a key indicator of just how important and popular the Tour de France Femmes avec Zwift is this year.

Fabio Jakobsen is one of the most thoughtful guys in the peloton and he had some nice words to say about Gino Mader after his win in Belgium
"The last two days have not, been easy, especially for the family & friends of Gino but cycling is our job so we have to switch the button
In preparation for the worlds, I've done this handy time zone calculations for each event. I did it for my colleagues, but I thought some of you might find it helpful, too.
#Wollongong2022
There's something perfect to see Marianne Vos in the yellow jersey at the Tour de France Femmes. She has been one of the big voices campaigning for equality for female cyclists and helped push us along this journey to get a Tour de France Femmes.
#TDFF
Without putting blame on Van der Poel or the kids, I wonder how two teenagers were allowed to go and knock on a hotel room door repeatedly and weren't stopped.
#Wollongong2022
I know I already posted this during this TDF, but I wrote this piece on Hugo Houle last year about how he wants to win a Tour de France stage to honour his brother. This would be a huge moment for Houle if he could win.

Tour de France organizers are preparing 10,000 liters of water to douse melting tarmac as peloton meets a heatwave in sun-scorched southern France this weeekend.
I have my accreditation for the Tour de France Femmes. When I started working in cycling journalism 10 years ago, I never thought I would get to go to a women's Tour de France. This is a huge moment.
Respect for Wout van Aert in the way that he dealt with disappointment today. He says that he's still happy to have made the podium, despite losing an opportunity to go for the win due to a puncture.

After seeing the constant trolling that
@SportsOrla
gets for being her wonderful self on television, I wrote something about sexism in sports journalism.
It's not the first time and it won't be the last time, but we should call it out. We can't and will not be silent.
Commentary: Sadly, sexism still exists when it comes to how females in sports journalism are treated on social media.
Female cycling journalists still have to regularly deal with sexist comments and it should be called out.
It's the last day of the TDF but I hit my own milestone today. Finally lost 20kg and still going. Plenty more to go on this journey but it's nice to mark the milestones. 🥳
Tom Pidcock and Nino Schurter were in deep discussion about the UCI changes to the grid rules after the finish.
Pidcock called the decision to amend the grid rules "bulls**t".

Alison Jackson on her Paris-Roubaix win: "I grew up on a farm and one of my jobs was to go and pick up rocks from the field. Now I have my own rock."

Pleased to say that I have renewed my contract with Jayco AlUla/Liv AlUla Jayco. So happy to be staying with the team. I have loved working with everyone on the team this year. It's such an amazing group of people and I am looking forward to getting to know them all better.

🐐 Dans le cadre de l'opération "Les Biquettes de l'Espoir", ce sont une 40aine de chèvres et moutons qui s'attèlent à désherber 2 300 mètres de pavés !
I think Matej Mohoric beautifully summed up the mix of emotions that cycling and sport delivers. To take your moment, sometimes you must deny someone else.

This is a really lovely idea.
Gino Mäder was really passionate about the environment and many times used his platform as a professional cyclist to raise money for environmental causes.
I find it deeply worrying that
@TeamTotalEnrg
has not said a single thing about Alexandre Geniez and his conviction for domestic abuse. Just pretending like it doesn't exist. This is how this stuff is allowed to remain rooted in our societies and continue.
I don't talk about my weight much, mostly because I am embarrassed by it, but I want to toot my own horn because since May I've lost almost 10kg and I am on course to surpass that before the end of the year. Onwards and upwards!
Fabio Jakobsen on Ukraine: "Here we have 25-year-old guys fighting for a win and there you have 25-year-olds fighting for freedom. It puts things into perspective."
#KBK22
Someone should tell Mathieu van der Poel and Wout van Aert that they don't always have to ride together. They're allowed to be apart. I wonder if WVA finds MVDP in his kitchen when he gets up in the morning
#TDF2021
It's not certain that he will win this year's Tour de France but Jonas Vingegaard's rise to the yellow jersey is proof that there's still space in cycling for riders to develop and they don't need to come right out of the traps as a 20-y-o winning the biggest races
