Of 41 patients with multi-site infections, six (15%) were found to have Neisseria gonorrhoeae isolates with discordant MICs. Typing using whole genome sequencing confirmed four of six patients had multi-site infections with different gonococcal strains. This suggests that a significant proportion of patients with multi-site infection may have different strains infecting different sites.
