The road to the two states' solutions does not go via Washington, London, Paris, Cairo, or any other capital. It goes via Tel Aviv, Ramallah, Jerusalem, and every Palestinian and Israeli city. It can be realized only when the majority of Israelis and Palestinians decide to salvage it. And there is a way to do it.
There’s still a way to build a Palestinian state, @SSinijlawi writes. But both sides will need to radically change their thinking—and their leadership:

There is one condition for the countries that will finance the reconstruction of Gaza, including Saudi Arabia and the UAE: that this war is the last war. This means that Israel must withdraw permanently from Gaza and not return, and that Hamas must hand over the keys of Gaza and its weapons to a new authority in Gaza.

In the beginning I was sure we were the good guys and they were the bad guys… Is the Israeli-Palestinian conflict really so complex? This I know: it’s not the technical issues that are difficult to solve. It’s not complications of borders or settlements or Jerusalem – these will become easy issues to solve if Israelis and Palestinians find common ground and mutual understanding. That itself is difficult. It's a learning curve. In the beginning I was sure we were the good guys and they were the bad guys. Then at a certain point, as I started talking to Israelis, I realized this binary thinking is unhelpful – and wrong. Israelis are just like us. And we are just like them. And that’s the key. To solve the conflict, to bring peace, we need to change the way we think about each other.

It can never be clearer. Trump wants Saudi Normalization with Israel, and the Saudis condition it to the establishment of a Palestinian state.
#Statement | The Foreign Ministry affirms that Saudi Arabia’s position on the establishment of a Palestinian state is firm and unwavering. HRH Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Crown Prince and Prime Minister clearly and unequivocally reaffirmed this stance.

I would really love to see this exchange deal concluded and for the war to stop forever so that we can open a new page between Israelis and Palestinians. There’s been so much pain and suffering over the past 16 months, and it will take a lot of work, and real political will, to heal the wounds. We need to be courageous in trying to restore trust between Israelis and Palestinians. It's not an easy job but I feel we are starting to see a change of mood. Each time there is a new release, it brings a little bit of hope. I hope it will continue. I hope political leaders will devote much courage and wisdom to continuing this momentum and changing the dynamics between our two peoples for good.

People in Gaza continue to endure terrible conditions – and the majority of Gazans would like to get rid of Hamas. The international community of course feel the same way. But if we really want Gaza without Hamas, we need a West Bank without Abbas. I wish we Palestinians had the political tools to change the system, to replace Abbas with better leaders waiting in the wings. But tragically we haven’t had political freedoms for the past 20 years. Abbas’s security personnel control all civil life in the West Bank – there is no freedom of movement, no free press, no freedom of expression. Unlike the Israelis who enjoy full freedom: they can convene every Saturday night in hundreds of thousands to demonstrate against the government. Unfortunately we don't have that luxury. People like me will never be given a platform in Palestinian media to express our opinion – I can criticize my own government only on International Israeli TV. What we do ask of the international community is not to make Abbas even more comfortable. Stop imposing him on us. Stop insisting he is a “moderate”. Condoleezza Rice thrust him on us in 2002 as an alternative to Arafat and we haven’t been able to dislodge him since. A few days ago, Steve Witkoff met with an Abbas loyalist in Riyadh. Why would he give legitimacy to a regime that is almost as terrible as Hamas. A reformed PA is not a pipe dream, and in fact holds the key to unlocking the entire conflict. We ask that the international community, if they aren’t going to help us in this task, at least not make it more difficult.

There is immense suffering and fear on both sides – but to solve this conflict, we need to appreciate the pain of the other side. As Israelis and Palestinians, we need to stop seeing ourselves as victims, focusing exclusively on our own grievances, and start paying attention to what the other side is feeling. This is how we create mutual understanding, and ultimately, this is how we end the conflict – not just the war in Gaza, the whole thing. My good friend Ambassador Alon Liel calls it the “parity of esteem”. In this conflict there’s a massive imbalance in power relations, Israel being an economic and military superpower. But where we can find parity – and through that, a pathway to peace – is through equal regard for each other’s pain.

I had several opportunities to meet senior #Saudi officials recently, including HRH Prince Khalid bin Bandar Al Saud, the 🇸🇦 ambassador in the UK @SaudiEmbassyUK, @KSAmofaEN It has always been the same message. This was what the Ambassador said last night for the @TimesRadio : * Our position is fairly clear. Saudi Arabia doesn't speak publicly often but when it does, we say what we mean and we mean what we say. And for us we can not have a normalization with #Israel without a solution for the Palestinians and the solution for the Palestinians is a state and this is very clear. * we are happy to be engaged continously in processes with anyone, but we have redlines, and for us we have to end the last 75 years of pain and suffer caused by one conflict, and this has to include a Palestinian state.
"We cannot have a normalisation of relations with Israel without a solution for the Palestinians." Saudi Arabia will not bend to Trump's ambition to expand the Abraham Accords without statehood for Palestine, says Saudi Arabia’s ambassador to the UK Prince Khalid bin Bandar.

Simple and clear
Against the backdrop of Trump’s return, the #Saudi ambassador to the #UK explains how difficult it is for normalization to happen, while taking into account the trauma that is taking place in both #Palestine AND #Israel, and hence why there needs to be dialogue
