I don’t care if you’re #conservative or #liberal, left or right. As long as you’re willing to have a conversation based on reason and facts, I respect and want to hear what you have to say. That’s how we reconstruct our political debate.

Allowing primal emotions to go vern our political discourse is like trying to resolve a nuanced disagreement with a WWE match.

2/ Does this apply to those in Congress who actively supported the Jan 6 insurrection? According to the U.S. Court of Appeals, who barred former North Carolina Congressman Madison Cawthorn from public service in May because of his involvement with Jan 6. Will others follow suit?

3/ Enacting term limits on federally elected officials—including the members of the Supreme Court—would ensure we’d bring new blood, and new ideas, into government regularly.

Facebook has demonstrated the dangers of spreading misinformation.  But history has shown censorship comes with its own set of issues. Rather than addressing the content itself, we must ensure people are equipped with the tools to better evaluate the information they consume.

Too many of us live in an echo chamber, consuming only media that aligns with our beliefs. We must be open enough—inquisitive enough—to say “maybe this isn’t the whole story.”

Americans have abandoned their pursuit of truth. This lay postmodernism—the belief truth is in the eye of the beholder—causes a logjam of ideas. We can’t find solutions until all parties agree on objective facts.

4/ Unfortunately, few such facts enter into social media discourse. If we spent more time educating ourselves on our nation’s history, we’d have a much better chance of understanding today’s quandaries, evaluating policy, & trusting the democratic process.
