Ever spotted one of these? A crinkle-crankle wall is an unusual type of garden wall, particularly associated with Suffolk, like this example in Bramfield. How they got their marvellous name is subject of some debate, of course. 📸CC BY-SA 2.0 / Nat Bocking #TechincalTuesday

In the Georgian era, shutters were an elegant way to shut out the world. Internal shutters would fold back neatly into the window reveal and could be bolted from the inside to keep out burglars (and the cold!) — handy since glass was so thin. #WindowWednesday. 📷 Tony Baggett
