In 5 years, 74 children have died with temporary accommodation as a contributing factor to their vulnerability, ill-health, or death. Of these 74 children, 58 were under the age of 1. These statistics are heartbreaking. They emphasise how poor the quality of temporary accommodation is in the UK. More must be done to protect families and children who find themselves without a home.

We welcome the extra £20 million announced today to help rough sleepers during the cold weather. However, more needs to be done for those living in temporary and unsuitable accommodation, with a commitment of long-term funding from the Government.
🚨 We’re giving councils an extra £20 million to protect those sleeping rough. ❄️The cold winter months can be extra hard for those rough sleeping and this money will help provide extra beds.
