St John Ambulance London & South Region's Medical Response Team. We treat and extract patients from dense crowds, high profile events and multi-patient areas.

Tonight at
#NHC2023
, our volunteers, from Advanced First Aiders to doctors, are in joint teams with
@Ldn_Ambulance
, ensuring anyone in the footprint can get paramedic-level care, even where ambulances can't reach.
This week, we had our monthly training night. Holding simulations in dark, confined spaces is a realistic reflection of the patients - and environments - we encounter on events!

Did you see us last night?
@stjohnambulance
MRT volunteers worked jointly with
@ldn_ambulance
yesterday, aiming to deliver high quality prehospital care in central London, where road closures had made it inaccessible to ambulances.
Happy New Year!
We are on scene at

, ready to celebrate

and provide treatment to patients throughout the day. Give us a wave if you see us 👋🏼🏳️🌈
Yesterday's
@LondonMarathon
saw
@stjohnambulance
MRT volunteers from all regions coming together to cover one of the largest finish lines of the year!
Identifying and caring for unwell runners on the finish line is a team effort, and yesterday was no exception.
Today and tomorrow, many of us are receiving additional training in basic nursing and care skills in a hospital setting, prior to deployment at NHS Nightingale this week. 2m distancing was maintained

A runner in cardiac arrest is the sickest patient on the finish line - regular drills allow us to respond promptly.
Scenarios explored cardiac arrest management on the finish line, the rest of the route, to a treatment centre.
Our team members do get about! Here are three of our Junior Doctors working in their usual jobs at an NHS hospital in ITU, ED, and Medical. Bleep us if there's any carry sheeting to be done!
#MySJADay
#TeamNHS
Then of course came the real thing - with teams throughout the pit level, working with stewards and security to reach unwell concert-goers in the crowd!
#OneTeam
MRT’s role on the finish line is rapid assessment, life-saving treatment and extrication of unwell runners.
You might see our cardiac arrest drills with treatment centre staff before race start so the most unwell patients get the best care possible!
We're pleased to be back at the York Street
@stjohnambulance
building this morning for our Finish Line training day, in readiness for tomorrow's

Day 2 of
#NottingHillCarnival
is well under way, and we're back out with our friends and colleagues from
@Ldn_Ambulance
. If you need our help, please flag us down or speak to a police officer! 🚑
National Residential Training Weekend this weekend brought MRT members from all regions to train and celebrate together!
On Saturday, we ran through MRT-specific drills and refreshed our major incident knowledge.
What better way to spend

Monday than at

Our joint teams with
@Ldn_Ambulance
are out again today across West London, allowing us to provide prehospital care to everyone at Carnival!
Today we've got 9 members out for the Windsor Half Marathon covering the finish line. Fingers crossed the rain holds off for all the runners!

Well done to all of the runners! A very hot day to be doing such a long race, so make sure you continue to stay hydrated this afternoon 🌞
We're now off to cover the last

Our scenarios today focused on the acutely unwell runner, including management of exertional heat illness and less common injuries such as femoral stress fractures.
Today we've got two teams out in Southall at the Nagar Kirtan. The event draws thousands of people from the local community on a procession through the streets. We're responding to calls for assistance in the crowd working alongside our colleagues from

This weekend, we ran our annual Regional Training Weekend, full of scenario-based learning to stretch our patient assessment and extrication skills!
Regular training together keeps our skills fresh and helps us work even more smoothly together on events.
This past weekend, the team undertook the mammoth task of moving kit to our new base in Ealing, a move months in the making!
Being based in London, where the bulk of our events are, allows us to be nimble in deployments.
It's the first MRT event for James and John today. They successfully completed their new member training last month and are raring to go!
We're delighted to have them join the team ☺️
