A period of stormy weather and now baltic temperatures ❄️. Rough sleepers are facing deadly weather. The Mayor has activated the Severe Emergency Weather Protocol (SWEP) to protect people on the street. Emergency shelters open when temperatures fall below zero, offering warm resting places. London #councils have spent £4.8m since 2020 moving people out of the city, often to smaller, deprived towns in the Midlands and north. Many are sent away with less than 24-hour notice to areas with no support and are often unable to return to the council that moved them.
