Bitcoin is down $8,000 (7.5%) in two days and probably moving in line with market economic anxiety about an erupting #tradewar. DOGE Coin is down a full 6 cents -- or 17.5%.

So, Donald Trump most likely won the presidency because of American economic anxiety, reactions against inflation, and the disciplines of kitchen table economics. With this tariff move against Canada and Mexico, anxiety rises, costs will surge, and everything on the kitchen table just got more expensive. The big winners by this move are Xi Jinping who will now benefit from China being a hedge for nations against US neo-mercantilism and Hakeem Jeffries who will inherit the upside in midterm elections. This is a big deal. @TheNatlInterest @GLOBSEC

So we all just learned that ATC controlled aircraft landing into DCA national airport and military helicopters in their normal flight path can crash into one another and both sides say they were doing the right thing. The helicopter is supposed to be paying attention visually but what a crazy system!!

an interesting provocation
Wisdom is learning the lessons we thought we already knew. DeepSeek reminds us of three important learnings from computing history: 1) Computing obeys the gas law. Making it dramatically cheaper will expand the market for it. The markets are getting it wrong, this will make AI much more broadly deployed. 2) Engineering is about constraints. The Chinese engineers had limited resources, and they had to find creative solutions. 3) Open Wins. DeepSeek will help reset the increasingly closed world of foundational AI model work. Thank you DeepSeek team.
