October is #LiverCancer awareness month. One in twenty people with cirrhosis caused by #ArLD die from #LiverCancer after just five years of follow up but there is much still to learn about surveillance in this group @EuropeLiver @EASLnews @dice_europe

The risk of liver cancer in people with #ARLD cirrhosis is 2% over five years - but is associated with poor outcomes: 60% die within a yr of diagnosis. Better surveillance, better prevention, or both? @HepatoEpi @MajaThiele @rabataller DOI: 10.14309/ajg.0000000000003077

This study addresses lifestyles and alcohol consumption and nicely illustrates the crossover of risk factors for steatotic liver disease - a reminder that we often have to address more than one cause of liver disease

Meta-analysis recapitulates data from 2023 - antibiotics prevent infection in patients with #AlcHep & steroids, but a mortality benefit remains out of reach. Do we need a larger study or are you using prophylactic antibiotics anyway?
