Taking the “C” from him was more about the optics of making a change, since they were once again came back with the core 4. Replacing him on the open market would cost much more than what he will re-sign for.

@fesshole This seems normal. I’d have a tough time telling my sister she couldn’t bring my niece and nephew. But no problem telling my other 30 friends with a kid or two each not to bring them. It’s my wedding also, I can do/invite what I want.

@ldl716 I think for what it would cost to get both these guys, I’d rather just get 1 of Dobson / Cozens. Dobson is the RD we’ve needed forever and Cozens could be long term 2C answer. Dobson is my dream trade target.

@dave45788 @Leafslatest @TheFourthPeriod While I agree, I’ve felt that about Willy, Matthews and Marner as well. Why should he be any different? The Leafs do have a fair bit of leverage here. That said, I also think he is willing to take less to stay so something will get done because he doesn’t wanna leave home now.

@Leafslatest Good. I’d use those pieces to aim higher. Dobson is the RD they’ve needed forever and Cozens is the possible long term 2C answer. Gotta start using our valuable pieces for longer term pieces if we’re always trading them. No more 1st for rental type deals.

@DanKnightly If it’s Minten and a 1st that’s a drastic overpay and Tre can be fired on the spot. That’s ridiculous. Minten and a 1st is most of the way to Dobson or Cozens.

@LNNinstagram That’s why you keep him and use the much cheaper option. If they project as the same why trade for the guys you get for a year and a bit for 4x the cost. Minten/Cowan/1st should only go to a Dobson or cozens type trade IMO
