Running the planter shallow over the corn row works to break crust. Left side 13,000. Right side 31,250 plants/ac. Corn was not close to emergence. Row cleaners and closing wheels did most of the crust busting.
Before and after an application of Pestell’s Manganese Sulphate, Delaro Complete and Nonionic Surfactant. Sprayed earlier this week. Manganese Deficiency looks much better!
This is my third time coming to this field. Grower really wanted to replant. Finally reached 100k and more are coming. The heat is bringing on the PUSH! Soys are slower near Lake Huron, where we had north winds last week. Dig and discover!
I did not expect Acuron at 1.6L/AC to be this good on knee high fleabane in notill corn. First choice was dicamba but wasn't willing to take the risk in late June, early July.
If scouting fields is your bread and butter, you should look for a mid sized ATV. My 570 Outlander fits nicely down 30, 20, and 15” rows.

You wouldn’t know n/c corn is >$7 and n/c soy is >$17 with the amount of weeds in many corn and soys right now. What happened to the critical weed free period?
Another successful Mn correction with Manganese Sulphate @ 6 lbs (1.9 actual) on muck soil. Before during and after. Well done

I scouted a pile of wheat today. It’s getting dry but we still have tremendous yield potential. It is hard to find the rows in most fields. I almost fall over in early wheat with a PGR. 💪
120 acres of extremely uniform wheat. No holes, nutrient deficiency, or soil/variety changes. Perfect location for a Miravis Ace + NIS vs. Prosaro XTR head to head in about 3 days.
The story changes when speaking to an industrial crowd that could potentially move to the US. I can’t wait for him to announce no more masks in schools.

The Premier of Ontario, Doug Ford has just blown up Justin Trudeau’s house of cards. In fact he’s just blown up the entire argument for mandates, vaccine passports and restrictions.
The Prosaro XTR vs. Caramba vs. Miravis Ace + NIS field still looking hot🔥. Table top uniformity. Good background fertility and MAP infurrow. All treatments look healthy so far. Pulling out the drone in 2 weeks.
We are approaching T3 in wheat. I guarantee there will be mistakes. Do NOT confuse Miravis Ace with Miravis Neo nor Prosaro Pro and Prosaro XTR.
Miravis ACE needs NIS
Prosaro Pro needs NIS
Do NOT add NIS to Prosaro XTR or Caramba.
Scouting some fantastic wheat today. This grower decided last fall to get the wheat custom planted to get MAP in-furrow. I don’t think they’ll regret it.
I can hardly believe my eyes. This field had very little rain until recently. It also had early season off target dicamba injury. It seemed like it took forever to close the canopy in notill corn stalks. OAC Brutons planted early May at R5 stage near Brigden.
Corn looked great last week and then it’s like a switch goes off at V3. Struggling roots partly due to dry clay, has caused the corn to go purple. Some hybrids showing it worse than others.
First year of corn following pasture. There is lots of organic matter and better structure!! This is unattainable for all ag land, but we still try our best.

I’ll never forget this field. I’ve renamed it Ryan’s Safety Lesson. 2 1/2 years ago I was driving 110km/h and hit this ditch at about 50-60km/hr. I knew it was there because I was done soil sampling but was zoned out.

Scouting some soybeans today for a couple that will be inducted into the Lambton Agricultural Hall of Fame this evening. The best part of my job is building relationships with such lovely people! 😊
Nice day at the beach… I mean Caradoc sand. New purchase last year. It’s going to see a lot of corn and manure. I’m thankful the grower chose not to do any fall tillage after black beans.
Lots of ugly soybeans in the rain zones. Compaction, saturated soil, wet feet, fewer nodules, fewer white roots, more purple stem discolouration from phytophthora root rot etc etc. 🤢
Some September wheat following early harvest sugarbeets is at GS31 already. Wow!
We have to be ready with crop protection but watch night time temperatures.
This field might get growth regulator tomorrow. 19 plants per ft of row with 6 tillers per plant.
This may be the last frost seeding opportunity for a while. I’m hoping to have a big day spreading dry land on Monday. The APV and I are getting along.
This field was just harvested last night. Volunteer wheat already growing. Another reason to harvest wheat when weather permits and pay the drying charge. Seeds had fallen out of the head.
Yesterday's 24hr total rainfall was 1.7" west of Forest. First significant rain of the summer. Late rain is better than no rain. Corn is still determining final kernel number (tip fill) and kernel depth. Soys are still forming and filling pods.

Sometimes you don’t realize how good weed control is until you let the foot off the gas. A 4x120 ft burndown spray miss in this IP soybean field.
We used 24D Ester, Eragon and metribuzin in the spring.
1st day staging wheat for T3. This September wheat will likely reach Day 0 by tomorrow. Getting setup for later this week to start Miravis Ace + NIS, Prosaro Pro + NIS, or Sphaerex fungicides.
Tried some Acuron this year. Walked 100 AC field today with not 1 weed found. Sprayed at 1 leaf. So far I'm very impressed. Go ahead a discontinue HalexGT and Lumax

It’s nice to see some of the clover I spread this spring survived the June drought.
The best stands seem to be what I spread early March with less residue (tillage or two years of soys).
Wheat green up is a little confusing. Sometimes wheat remains green all winter, especially if it’s covered by snow. There really isn’t much new growth for a base ~0 crop. Spreading clover this morning in freezing rain reminded me it’s still mid March...
It’s too early to make final calls on many crops following cereal forage, but it always amazes me what comes to life following a nice rain. These crops were planted around May 24.
IP cycle:
Nov: premium ($)
Dec: $
Jan: $
Feb: $
Mar: $
Apr: $
May: spray cocktail
Jun: plant massive seed sold in 50lbs units. Out of good seed and respray
Jul: never growing again
Aug: we'll do a preharvest in couple months
Sept: they won't dry
Oct: ok harvest and store
I've never been a fan of double cropping after wheat. Here's why... Is it fair to assume these numbers? IDK. I do know we have a LOT of soybeans in rotation as is.
@cropdoc2
15" rows closed and close to R2, only 1 month after planting. This field of P21A28X caught my attention today! Other companies have good varieties too. What makes this unique is Peking, white mould tolerance, Lumisena and ultimately yield performance.
#plant24
wasn’t much fun but I’m still finding some decent corn this week. It’s not all junk. We also had a nice stretch of weather for most growers to finish planting corn and soys.
