Today sees the end of term and also the retirement of our Headteacher Ms Saunders. She will be greatly missed, her work has truly helped to shape the lives of so many students. We would like to wish her a happy retirement and thank her for all that she has done for our school!

Today we said a premature goodbye to year eleven. Not only have they excelled academically throughout their time with us, they have developed into upstanding young men. We are sure whatever they will go on to do they will continue to make us proud!

We are incredibly proud of the history of our school. This started with a training camp for WW1. To honour the men and women who gave their lives so that we can live how we do today, some of our students have recorded a recital of one of Owens poems.

As part of our restoration, we get to see some lesser seen parts of school, one of these is our bell tower! Instead of this being rung with a pulley, it will soon be rung at the press of a switch to signal the end of lunch! Not bad for a nearly 250 year old bell!

Last week marked the 27th Anniversary of the Bosnian Genocide. Mr Benjamin made a pledge with

to educate our History students on the events of 1995. In turn, they pledged to challenge modern discrimination and denial on these Srebrenica Flowers

We wanted to take the time out to say a well done to all of our students. They have engaged amazingly in their virtual lessons and have shown such enthusiasm for learning! We hope this weekend they can relax and get some fresh air so they're refreshed for monday!

Today we have marked Remembrance Day in school. 109 former pupils and staff sadly lost their lives fighting for our freedom in WW2. To commemorate these Old Libertians, in 1948 our stained glass window was installed as a memorial to them.

Our geography ambassadors have been able to purchase a seismometer from

because of a generous grant from

. The boys are now able to contribute to a global network of geographers and seismologists tracking and tracing earthquakes across the globe!

After a thorough interview process, we're really excited to introduce our new head boy team. Our new head boy is Connor F, and our two deputy head boys are Arjun B and Ben M. Well deserved and we know that they will be excellent representatives of the school!

Today is officially 100 years since The Royal Liberty School was founded! Back in 1921 our first Headmaster was S.B. Hartley and he is pictured here in 1921 for the opening ceremony. We've come a long way since the first school photograph of 8 staff and 103 pupils!

It's been great to get an update on the renovation of our main building. Lots of work has been completed despite the lockdowns including new roofs, windows and lots of interior structural work! This will make our school an even better learning environment for the boys!

We are very proud of the history of our school. Over the summer break, this memorial was laid to honour the members of the Artists Rifles who trained at the Hare Hall Camp. Underneath is soil from each of the battlefields they saw action in throughout World War One.
