Our prayers have been answered. Keith Siegel, Chapel Hill native, is finally home after 15 months being held hostage by Hamas. As we celebrate his release, we need the same for the remaining hostages and a continuing cease fire to put an end to this war.

My friend Joe John has been a courageous champion for everyday people as a lawyer, Judge, Crime Lab Director and legislator. I pray for his family and loved ones, knowing he has made a real difference for so many.
On behalf of the Senate Democratic Caucus, we are deeply saddened by the passing of Rep. Joe John. A true servant leader, his dedication to justice will never be forgotten.

As Governor, it’s been fun to promote the fantastic sport of hockey and two great universities. The UNC/NC State Governor’s Cup series has been exciting over the years and I’m humbled by this honor. This year come see it Feb 2 at the Lenovo Center.

North Carolina and Durham lost a trailblazer. Dr. Lavonia Allison was a steadfast advocate for her community, for education, civil rights and so much more. Her family and friends and everyone touched by her work are in my thoughts.

Allison Riggs won and the recount confirmed it. Republicans want to toss thousands of legal votes in the trash because they don’t like the outcome. This shouldn't be about party politics-this should be about making sure every vote counts & that our elections still mean something.
