Do you really think you’d be better off under Dutton? Their labor polices are basically identical. In fact the libs voted against caps on student immigration that labor had put forward just so they can keep it as an election issue. They also have no housing plan and not even any attempt to build more housing or reduce the pressure and cost of housing and renting. Labor is also not doing nearly enough but still doing / attempting to do way more than the Libs would. Please consider who you vote for at the next election, perhaps independents or someone like the greens who actually want to build a shit ton more housing — there could not be a worse choice than Dutton and his cronies. They don’t even pretend to care about the country or the people, just in hate and division.

Disagreeing on policy and staying civil is fine. But it's impossible for me to not take it personally when a man like Dutton helped along by the Murdoch mafia is actively and deliberately lying about every single thing that comes out of his mouth and spreading hate and division for no reason other than personal political gain. labor has been extremely disappointing in many ways but almost every huge social and even economic problem we have can be traced right back to your friendly Liberal government. And the blatant hypocrisy of what they say so often with a straight face no less just blows me away 🤯 I'm certainly not well versed in the current politics of WA but nationally can't think of anything worse for the country than a Dutton / Rinehart government getting power.

Hint: You're missing the point, perhaps deliberately. I am aware that Rio is far from the worst here. And I have read their last annual report. What my point was that our royalties, on resources which are finite, including iron ore and anything else, should be far higher than they currently are. Most companies would continue to operate because margins are quite healthy but as a nation we only have access to most resources for a limited time and we should maximise the benefit for our society now and in the future and we could be doing a whole lot more than we are now. Do you really think our royalties on anything we dig up are nearly high enough? If so, you're the one that should probably go and learn something about Norway v Australia and perhaps a few other things too...

Yes, I also try not to be rude (to most) but people hell-bent on constantly lying and spreading absolute bullshit do not deserve politeness or respect. There is nothing on Sky News worthy of respect. They clearly have no respect for Australians, democracy, facts or even their own viewers, who they lie to constantly. So yes, I don't have patience for these charlatans and liars. Respect and politeness is important in a civil society but not when one party is trying to tear down everything good about your home and spread hate for power and influence like Murdoch and his shills on Sky. When someone is actively trying to destroy your kids and grandkids future, perhaps the time to be polite to them has passed...🤷♂️

Bro, have you used this thing called the internet? Funded by your taxes. And modern wifi? Funded by Australian taxpayers. There are countless other examples. So much research doesn’t make sense for private sector because there isn’t a clear profit motive at least early on. If tax dollars stopped funding all research, societies across the world including yours and mine (Australia) would be way less better off long term. Even Elon’s space X also stands on the shoulders of the government funded NASA to move things forward. Aren’t the benefits of obvious when it comes to things like diseases? I’m very happy for my tax dollars to go towards things like this.

Who his fanboys are has changed significantly over the years. I am definitely a recently ex Elon fanboy myself. I know many others in my friend / acquaintance group in the same boat from Tesla / Elon fans to completely removing Teslas from consideration from the next car purchase because of the now crazy right wing Elon. His new fanboys are a very different breed who are actually attracted to him because of who he’s become now. Although there are still many who pretend like he hasn’t changed / only wants what’s best for America, etc. which is total BS in my opinion. Even the Tesla sales numbers globally seem to be reflecting this to an extent.

It’s the economy, stupid (not you, just how people feel about the economy). While all the numbers might be moving in the right direction (and they are), if people don’t feel it day to day, they will almost always vote out the incumbent government. It’s a pity our opposition party is full of snakes and snake oil salesman though instead of any real leaders. If albo had shown any real ambition and swung for the fences with real reform, the voters might have rewarded him. But he was too afraid from Shorten’s loss with ambitious policy even though it’s a very different time now and people are thirsty for leaders with real courage and bold action. Neither albo nor Dutton is bringing that and unfortunately for albo he is in charge of the incumbent government. I hope I am proven wrong though. Anything would be better than Dutton as PM.

For sure! Imagine where we would be as a nation if the majority of those in power were as dedicated and committed as he seems to be to real change and sensible policy instead of shying away from any ambitious and real change (albo) or just lying through their teeth and divisive dog whistling (Dutton). Hopefully they are both sitting up and taking notice at how the first preferences went at the Werribee by-election.

@DianaRyall @AlboMP Sounds like hate speech to me. Hating other Jewish people who have a strong moral compass and ethics. Let’s go Albo, mandatory minimum for this dude!

@jonatanpallesen @MichaelAArouet The government used to build a lot of housing. They stopped building it in the 80s that is the single biggest contributor to this. Government employees and many others used to live in government built housing.

@MarshBrentnall @fictillius lol haven’t heard that one before. Should be the liberal party’s slogan at the next election — Australia doesn’t have any actual problems, it’s the smashed avo stupid… Nothing to do with that $3m mortgage I bet…

@AustralianLabor and @AlboMP still not too late to show some backbone and announce some real radical policy changes to genuinely improve the country instead of all the low hanging fruit you’ve been picking so far…
